...With all due respect to those who have suffered loss of physical and mental capacity when i watch sport where those with more limbs than others in the same race it brings back the male verse female sex change debacle.....what exactly is a level playing field?   the swimming had some legend with one arm and leg beaten by a "peer" with seemingly no impedients?  i would give second the gold.....who handicaps the handicapped...no disrespect intended

Just got a telling off from the missus. While watching the long jump I say "Cant wait to see the 1 legged athletes try the hop skip and jump"

Wife not impressed. No sense of humour🙄

We shouldn't make fun of disabled people but some one in a wheel chair doing the pole vault would be interesting., or a blind pistol shooter or archer , maybe a hammer thrower with no arms, might need to swing it from his old fella.

On a more serious note it is true that they are all of different levels  of disablement which does make things awkward but it is what it is but they are out there giving things a go, good for them

Easy Gruffy-- what word would you prefer? Handicapped?Maimed?Crippled?---  It's probably the most accurate description for a condition we all inherit  later in life, to a greater or lesser degree. Always thought those fancy painted carparks outside most businesses and leisure facilities used the "disabled" moniker, or is there a new woke translation?

one thing is for sure Chev nobody is out to make fun over other peoples impairment, as you say we all have our turn at some stage or another, when i park in Wheelchair parks i am ALWAYS in the vehicle to make way to those who look to access the market more easily

That's a confession , a $750 Fine these days Gruff , I'll post my banking details soon , you can deposit the money in  there . Quote Louise Upston, the Minister for Disability Issues, today said misusing car parks for disabled people was the unacceptable and the financial penalty will increase from $150 to $750.

And good on Louise.
Gruff if you aren’t disabled or your partner/wife isn’t  OR you don’t have a PASS to hang from your mirror, you are a damn disgrace even thinking of parking in one of those spaces, irrespective of sitting in the car and looking out for others.
Unless I gave read this wrong you have gone down in my estimation.

if anyone sits in these spaces for whatever reason they need to respectful of why they are there,if you are in a vehicle and being respectful there is no issue...you park up and hit the shops 750 is about right, in saying that if i was that immobile what am i doing there? NZers are No 8 wire not 80  metres closer... storm in a teacup INSIDES.....SO WHAT HAPPENS INSIDE THE SHOPS? DO THEY HAVE TO WAIT AT THE CHECKOUT?

i normally like a few Rums  but have dropped a few Fathers old tawny Liz but it doesnt change who i am, i say i wouldnt put Adern,Hipkins or Robertson out if they were on fire but if push came to shove i would...im to soft even though they all need life sentences.......i have spent hours talking to  elderly and hours trying to make their lives easier and feel priviledged to have known them....my form  probably represents an erratic trotter  but always hope for the right result
