  1. Point taken Phil but I wasn't an Anderton fan anyway. He's 70-something and has done enough party-hopping in his life to worry about standing for Mayor. Could well retire gracefully. On the other hand I have the utmost sympathy for Chch people in their plight and the on-coming wet weather won't ease things in the short term either. Just Mother Nature letting us know who's REALLY in charge here but most fortunate there have been no fatalaties.
  2. Have thought exactly the same thing Murray. I,too, am cynical but of geologists and seismologists (sp). We put millions if not billions of $$$$ into research to these guys. They say "this isn't the BIG one, but the big one could come at any time." They can tell us the intensity, the length, the depth and all sorts of info AFTER the event, but are unable to give us so much as thirty seconds warning. To add to my cynicism it's apparently about the Australian and New Zealand plates. Who cares about the plates, we've won the CUP.
  3. co-founder and original cello player for ELO the wondergroup, killed by a runaway bale of hay. Just goes to show, 'no man knoweth the day'.
  4. Would be nice to get another win Claimer, and/or some black type but she's probably paid for a reasonable stallion in her last half dozen starts. Pretty honest ain't she?
  5. ....and obviously you'd know what one of them was like.
  6. Qoute PYT: Shaggable?? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- not strictly racing but isn't that Alison Pugh on TV One beakfast the most shaggable bird on tele?? When this is the sort of level you need to stoop to start a thread it shows you up for what you really are. I doubt Alison would want to reply but I'll ask her.
  7. Remember Bradez he's talking about a trotter. Recent winners: Alien Waits 2.06.7 Dreamit 2.04.8 Castletons Boy 2.04.3 Midnight Invasion 2.05.7 Never going to get many going under 2mins here apart from the real guns but a group race would at least gain some kudos.
  8. Were NO allowed to leave the "republic" or were they the after-match hangi?
  9. Things are tight for everyone in the breeding business ( no, that wasn't meant to be a joke) so don't complain if fees are too high, most studs will negotiate.
  10. Thanks guys. Wasn't looking to denigrate the horse in any way at all. Was just asking for opinions based on my own very limited knowledge.
  11. probably http://www.pggwrightson.co.nz Not sure when they'll be up though.
  12. I'm not so much up on T/bred breeding these days but wonder how breeders rate this horse. merican bred though won a lot of races in Italy but do they rate? years ago I recall another Italian horse here called Della Porta (late 60's early 70's). Won 19 races (I think) but wasn't terribly popular. Is it an Italian thing?
  13. I think after his win yesterday most breeders could reason themselves out of that as being a major problem.
  14. Sorry Grahame, you can't excavate a hole because there's nothing to excavate, you can only create a hole by excavating the ground. How's that for pc? LOL
  15. Simon Mac was also on the ball getting Heza Holmes out from a tight 3 back spot when the trailler came back on him, and running into second. Great crop of young drivers about at the moment.

    Jacob Oram

What's known as a 'tampon' sportsman. In for one week - out for three.
  17. What he's simply asking is "are doctors trained in India or Pakistan, for example, trained to the standard or quality we expect here"? Whats the big deal? They might even be better trained, he's just asking the question. The fact that they are driving taxis just might be a dead giveaway.
  18. If you frequent the "Clen" then that very cleary explains everything. If you run with dogs, invariably you;ll get fleas.
  19. He's being very smart - smarmy but smart - in ending with a question mark. It's my understanding that DIA has visited every harness club in the country as far back as 12 months,so obviously Pat O'B is going to be among those. Someone must be really short of news.
  20. Hope you got plenty Pickel. Going by his last run I thought he was just a tad below the others. Great day for the Kiwis. De Lovely sensational - again.

    sulky tyres

The Aussie horse behind him punctured the tyre - at least it did on the race I watched.
  22. Won't win a group 1 in this country IMHO, but might in Oz.
