Stodge, I think that the issue is in the dissenters head in NZ. The top trainers seem happy to trial and race horses on the AWT.

Thats a pity I will have nothing to do with him. People who will not concede to another and when in a weaker position divert and evade have a personality issue. If others are happy to be to be played with up to them to indulge his jollies. But I wont -
Ar least the Australians aren't as stupid as the Americans.

Bald men do not do well in politics is a known fact. Its Luxon's handicap. Waititi the Maori hopeful and L.abour ally knows that and is why he wears the hat in Parliament. Labour would need to turn Winston again. Auckland will not forgive Chippie's part in locking us down for 100 days so Labour, nutty Greens and TPM wont cut it. Unless they get some straight thinkers this country is lost if those tragics get into power I just wish the left would find a new leader and some new cattle. Chippy and McAnulty are so tainted with past actions. And for Gods sake dont bring that little union hack Michael Wood back. Come on, get some business people, farmers, tradies in, not BA.s, union reps, schoolteachers and low level lawyers. -

Scooby - I went over there and had a look, held my nose. He says he will come back on here under another name if he feels like doing that. The thing is a CAFE is a place where people of goodwill come to discuss matters of their interest. Its your business and for its welfare you would advisably eject the undesirables. Perhaps if people used a fake name and you twig that you should ask them to ID and failing that exclude them. Dump the dregs, put out the trash. -
The AWT tracks are not as attractive visually as grass. I've been to races at Churchill Downs and watching horses fanned out racing on slush isn't either but of course its a viable venue. The Lindsays let Tony Pike fly little Lucy In The Sky down. I have a HY with Pikes and know how careful they are with their charges. Until someone provides reliable data on the safety of our AWT's I will continue to think that the probable reason AWT are not liked is they favour fast horses which are of course in the minority.

Drew 1 in Trial 1 on a bog track what goos luck (18 heats).. Michael McNab doing the biz for TA now. The horse that was second could have taken that if they wanted.

Where are the 2yos. Well there is 124 to trial at PUKE tomorrow. The flashy types have got the lolly and are.out for a spell.. Pity the lolly jar is low. But I applaud the trainers who think of the babies development into real racehorses

The following extract is from the OPTIMIST thread below. It bears out what I posted earlier { NZTR has some parallels with a book I’m currently reading; it could even be the NZTR anthem. It’s entitled MISTAKES WERE MADE (but not by me), which the Wall Street Journal reviewed by saying “Illuminating when you recognize yourself in the stories it tells – mortifying.” The New Zealand Racehorse Owners’ Association President, Bernard Hickey, has written to NZTR claiming the problems at Awapuni were known well before the race date, and the meeting should have been transferred to Otaki. His letter also said, in part,” …evidence from my point of view is that RACE, RIU and NZTR were culpable in terms of the provision of the Health & Safety Act in not showing due diligence in its decision-making process. No doubt the Club’s Risk Register was updated when the hazards were identified during the week that led to the rail being pushed out, which is a risk in itself at Awapuni, but I doubt such documentation even exists.” The Trainers’ Association does nothing. It is a toothless, benign organisation that is seemingly frightened that its members won’t get their licences renewed each season if they say anything.

Nothing is going to improve until the sector groups get voting rights on NZTR. The current relationship is ancient and the mother of all the cock ups you are seeing now. It can also be punitive to individuals. People at the coal face know stuff about local conditions. If you are a local trainer or jockey would you be listened to. If not why stick your head up over the parapet. RIB know they dodged a bullet over Taikis death and will close down a meeting at the first sign of an incident.

The most basic thing to ascertain - is the bend geometrically correct. Easily done with a couple of measuring tapes tied together. i watched that race on the TV and the horses seemed to do a tight swerve as the entered the straight. If there is a flat spot in an arc there will be a hard spot. So wide was the horse that slipped it would have been going flat out to keep up.

I think you are wrong maybe he comes on here to disrupt this good site. I dont like the thought of being played.

I think you would only take your good horse from here to northern climes when it had nothing left to prove. EV fits that.

What you must realise is that all syndicators are skimmers. They need to service the myriad shares and make a margin.

Lets see if we can liven this place up. Put up a name in CAPS and describe that person in 2 words max. One sentence below to explain If you agree "like" it I will start-------- LUXON - Jellyfish Hard to like and hold.

Trials - Cambridge (Synthetic) 13 Heats vs Foxton (Grass) 26 Heats
Nerula replied to Baz (NZ)'s topic in Thoroughbred Cafe
Got a share of one that trialed at Cambidge the other day. She is local and familiar with the going Would not have wanted her to go to Foxton to run around in the hope of 2 rating points. We got them too. All the top or "names" trainers had runners except Te A. -
Oh there is outside influeces of how an individual is treated. Some people have the magic, time and kindness to turn things around. I'm thinking Terri Rae

S/boy your uncle told me, "I've had a a few that could have been Sunline but they didnt want to be" When the girls say no they mean it!

I dont see myself as a Pedant or a nit-picker so maybe thats a paradox. The thread was about Avondale which is dying and the it diverts to places hundreds of kms away. So why not let the Avo' thread die and start another that is pertinent? It irritates me that people like CM and RO want to dive off and divert threads to someting they can argue about. That disease may become contagious and if so this site will not be worth following. Can we not follow a thread? I will not be looking at this thread again. Likelly CM will come back with another Leggy like swerve.

Pardon but wasnt this thread about Avondale???????
