Unreal to think there is only 11 races on thursday...no c5 sprint and no maiden race...surely there must have been enough noms to run either...even if the c5 race was a 6 or 7 dog field..it must help turnover? ...Or are we starting to see a decline in numbers in the north?

Yeah they should of had a C5 field and would have the number to run one. But not a maiden on a group 1 night.

Genuine question here, is there any reason why Karen Walsh doesn't race any of her dogs at Manakau?

Because her dogs are broken in on the two turn tracks (Cambridge) I think.. so they race better on the two turn tracks (Cambridge and Palmy)

Interesting reading but overall stats paint a different picture.

    ZIPPING GABBY

prior to coming to NZ - 9 starts and four were from boxes 1 and 2 alone

since arriving and counting today - 10 starts all from wider than box 5 and half of them from 6 alone)

The recent spate of poor draws seems to be averaging it's box draw stats out.

    DANNY DEE

Prior Aust draws 4281477543563 so 13 starts and only drew inside 4 four times

    NZ draws 127461142554111361 so 18 for 10 inside 3

That means that in 31 starts has drawn inside 3 in 14 which is still less than half and if you add in box 4's - it's 16 from the inside four boxes. which is close enough to half meaning that he has drawn outside five in the other fifteen or half of his overall starts. Yes a lot of recent box 1's but no one was complaining prior to his fortuitous draws at five of it's past six as it's only averaged out to 50/50 now.

It goes to proive that you can't just base a random box draw sample on a string of recent good or bad luck - it has to be done over time and with a greater number of starts as it will no doubt average out.

Someone who can see my point!!!!

You will find that both vets in the cd tend to not go over 28 days for a stand down. If the injury is serious enough. They know the trainer will be responsible and not race their dog

Have to agree with flagship on this one. All 3 of these dogs will miss out on auckland cup/railway heats aswell and allegro gun would have a winning chance in either of these races. So id say the injury was serious

Nope all their stand downs expire before the heats of A cup and Railway. Allegro Gun already had a crack last year and nothing btw.

Maybe people should get their facts straight before creating conspiracy theories.

Maybe the steward's report isn't 100% accurate because in the racebook on Friday night it had the three dogs scratched two with vet certificates supplied and only one without. From what I was told the two with vet certs were very serious injuries with 28 day stand downs. Don't know when they sustained the injuries but even if it was on the Monday given the number of dogs they are working and checking it wouldn't be too hard to understand not having got around to checking them until Wednesday afternoon.

No-one in their right mind would scr the track record holder to give two dogs half a second slower a run and hopw they could win the event. It was nothing more than luck and the rails alley that the winner got the chockies in 17.60.

Very serious injuries wouldn’t be given 28d stand downs.
