  1. But even the commentator didn't know which gap they should have taken
  2. What about Jane at start of day in preview with Hunt (who cracked a grin) talking about Matt Hill coming over to call the Waikato Steeples.
  3. 'The new bit of ground he has given us is not very nice'
  4. Yes what outstanding coverage they provide the only Listed race in NZ yesterday was at Wanganui and what no after race content shown not even delayed yet we get all the fan fair from races a Te Rapa though not saying we shouldn't. What a story it provided with a South Island horse coming to take the spoils. But let's go and watch them walk around birdcage at Te Rapa. Wonder what Sweeney though of J Riddell's comments after his win when interviewed earlier
  5. Yes, it has a layer of sand (25mm) over the soil/silt base Thats why it's called sand carpeting
  6. Surely the biggest question is why wasn't this attended to before any seeding as they knew the stones were there. The old story fix a problem then it doesn't come back to bite I
  7. But it's not a sand-based track. It's a soil/silt-based track with sand in the profile.
  8. Our man Matt states they are building consistency. Listed race 120k Group 3 110k hard to imagine that's consistent
  9. What his job then the last on left because of the negative criticism, it was actually his job to get the industry moving positively as he had plenty of coin to play with
  10. It's always a bad sign when the only thing they talk about is what they have done. Front up to the expectations of the industry is the first thing off the rack I would think instead of putting your slippers on under the coffee table
  11. Most interesting I think was it wasn't shown in any lead up track information all week and Raceday to the point it was even noted in the Stewards Report but everyone else could see it.

Yes, same process but the difference is Awapuni has done the sand slitting which allows the moisture through the profile to the drainage system better.

Interesting Kate states the track is like Ellerslie which it is not. One is a sand-based track the other has been sand carpeted. Totally different. so today at Te Rapa they have put on extra water I think not

Don't you love it when they say we will learn from it and the processes we had in place.

In theory if following the true position, the bend should only be slighter not sharper. Simply geometry

Yes a Dark and Dusty day

Yes, did mention that. Wonder how many have done that anyway?

Interesting comments in article by your old mate Mick that the first Group` 1 of new season be in Auckland as to horse population up there and it's so much easier for them to travel to. Other 2 HB Group 1 days be Awapuni. Just shows how much CD needs this venue operating or all CD Group races will disappear.

More than likely though smaller fields they do race a bit pedestrian, but they should spread out depending on kick back.

. Interesting to note that all starting limits have been set at 12 for all races. One would imagine the track is some 25m wide and rail out 6m How precious is this track
  21. Read the facts 1.12.44 first 1200m Waverley 2nd race then races eight 1.13.59. Riverton 1200m 1.18.60 then 1.17.55 then 1.16,71. Surely you could work that out before passing judgement.
  22. Poor Aidan confuses the interviewee by asking the same question just in a different way.
  23. Can someone give BP a list of notifiable gear for horses parading when Reptak as he described was wearing ear warmers not pre-race ear covers. Maybe us at home need pre-race ear covers on at times.
  24. Yes, it is a lot of work, but we are seeing what it can handle with its use, and I would think as it develops it will only get better. Well done to Jason and his team. Just to note with the structure it does provide the perfect structure for drainage when raining and infiltration for irrigation which does lack on our old soil-based tracks.
  25. Yes 84 horses Cambridge 139 horses Foxton though double the number of heats not the double number of starters
