  1. As shown, it does show how far we are behind in have tracks structurally built for purpose not only to take weather events but also irrigation.
  2. Race 6 call got a bit miss mothered then Jason says ridden by Micheal Mcnab. Maybe the excitement of the big got to him being a Palmy boy/
  3. Unfortunately, we are still behind the eight ball with track structures and having to over irrigation to provide safe footing and now we have lost the ability to have a good 3 summer track which is described as a track with moisture in it. Matamata preformed well as usual.
  4. What about Brothers Bustling Bill and Sleepy Bob amazing how they get forgotten. Percy Peake and Last race Garry ( Phillips) also
  5. Jumps Racing for season 67 races, 528 starters, $2,580,000 stakes offered. Starters average 7.8 per race.
  6. Unfortunately, they are their own worst enemy. They want to be a part of racing they have to keep doing the job right as too many committees think you just use it like a merry go round and it fixes itself. Get with the real world.
  7. Really the Northerns are gone forever never to be seen again. Te Aroha or Te Rapa won't bring them back and they need to change the name of those races as to not denigrate those races of the pass that were spectacles in jumps racing. Next, they send the Grand National to Wanganui then you will see how far they will go to keep the name alive. Of note I take nothing away from West Coast and Nedwin as to their efforts as that is what jumps racing desperately needs.
  8. Oh, we had rain on Saturday morning so we can't run the trials on Tuesday. Gore had a month's rain in a day and the area was flooded out but before it arrived obviously not knowing the extent of what they did get moved their race meeting 2 days and raced. I wonder are they taking the pi--- or is It now a fine weather track only. Once touted as the saving grace for CD winter racing.
  9. Yes, there are a lot of races that have turned into 2nd tier races compared to their predecessors obviously caused by horses being sold as youngsters not retained in the industry due to rising costs and return in stakes on offer if you can win them, money in bank better than what's on offer.
  10. Showed on TV news the horses going out of birdcage gate to the start and its snowing, the penny didnt drop to say no? Then coming back from start. Only in NZ sadly

    F&M WFA

No, she never was Turnip didn't have ratings then. Clever Trunip

    F&M WFA

Wfa racing 64 rated horse winning, good for owners but what does it do for WFA racing in NZ
  13. It's not so much being negative but think they shouldn't just jump in and look at ways of clearing the till on one race of that type as what if the lower-class day over carnival they spread an extra 350k across the board to feed a few more mouths.
  14. Surely if you have 350k would you use it on a 1-win 2100m race at Trentham or spend it on the track as you have learned this season without the track you have no race meeting. It's like we have got bailed out again with a pot of gold and let's get rid of it before anyone notices.
  15. How stupid this quote unbelievable. How much does Stratford ,Opaki and Levin cost the industry ... nothing yet they supply a service to the industry through training centres. Woodville is there to pick up the slack from Awapuni not only with flat racing but the lower end jumps racing now.
  16. So, your mate and his 10 other mates have all raced on the surface to know it doesn't work or they are just a lot of I can do it better because I know best as I've been a Track manager since I started training horses.
  17. Ag Challenge Stakes formerly the Jackson Stakes that use to be run the second day of September meeting that was taken over when Hawkes Bay carnival was evolving. But to think the likes of Bonecrusher and Horlicks Veandercross Rough Habit etc going around in this race my how far it has fallen to be a winter WFA race. Yes, certainly no depth in open class horses this time of year and The Te Akau Model works well as its easier to get a little from a lot of owners than a lot from one to keep some coming back for more each season
  18. Yes. Was there in 1999 with a jumper in National and couldn't believe how the soil was like a swamp on top and 6 inches down like concrete and they still raced all three days no issue.
  19. Yes 3 issues mentioned but i would suggest the irrigation had more bearing on out come
  20. As reported with Riccarton it was an irrigation issue that caused the problem, and these will happen as we expect track mangers to become so reliant of changing the state of the track with irrigation to appease the trainers and turn our summer tracks into spring autumn tracks. Like all tracks none maintain themselves, do they?
  21. The climate different in Singapore to Moone Valley to Auckland but they all still grow grass. Moone Valley races 52 times a year name a turf track that equals that then you can say the results will be different. Long gone are turf based tracks the can preform to more racing than a Strathyr.

    NZ RIU

Maybe waiting for plans and licensing to be finalized for Aussie Te Akau stable set up

    NZ RIU

Interesting outcome in Tokyo Tycoon positive swab case and you have got to wonder are the RIU are setting a precedent in this case with no penalties other than the disqualification of the horse from said race which you would hope was always going to happen. Costs involved would amount to just with the analysis of the second sample is about $2200 and no fine why? Whether you have 10 horses in work or 200 as trainer you are responsible for all of them as you send an account out for all of them no doubt. Yes, fault was found and the person responsible obviously would be having a difficult time over it but it is up to the trainer to have systems or procedures in place so something like this never happens. Positives will happen but the jurisdiction over them shouldn't.
  24. Isn't it done by the markers on the running rail each raceday at the 800 600 400 200 and 100m marks and formpro produce times from there. Generally up on website a few days after meeting.
  25. Funny not many Cloudy Lease or Makor type stallions in the commercial market for some reason. Yes, obviously another finger pointer likes most of them it's always someone else fault just think what stopped the jumps racing in South Australia mainly there was only 1 resident jockey there. Jumps riders in NZ can have income outside of riding just ask the ones riding 10-15 a morning 6 days a week at $20 plus a ride not bad income one would think. Fannin and Phelan both train in their own right and Parker works full time for Myers, Lammas trains also and Mattews works for Oulaghan etc. As for NZTR weren't they and the clubs subsiding jockeys travel to the South Island jumps scene for a number of years and then take the clubs cost like Egmont having to gets jumps from Wanganui then send them back only to have to get again for their next meeting yet another burden on the club bears then staff to service the jumps for race days. There is a lot of costs to have a jumps day without the stakes involved as well. What do you expect in NZTR in educating Jumps riders how did the likes of Jenkins Gillies Treweek Fannin and Phelan learn the craft. How many supported the National meeting last meeting only K Myers D Cunningham Oulaghan the rest were expecting a subsidy to take horses down there or worried they would miss the Northern carrots on offer.
