rdytdy 5,343 Report post Posted October 4, 2014 How the hell does Her To Eternity end up loose out on the track and ends up being a scratching? The horse escapes the handler in the birdcage and comes down the shute to where the horses are going on to the track. The gate is closed and Her To Eternity turns and goes back down into the birdcage. Instead of waiting for the horse to be caught the idiots open the birdcage gate again and this time the horse escapes out on to the track and gallops around the track. Dumb! Dumb! and Dumb! rdytdy 5,343 Report post Posted October 4, 2014 No, it was the guy on the gate who became oblivious to what was happening. Instead of keeping the gate shut he opens it to let the clerk of the course in and then opens it up again to let a horse out. Then Her To Eternity arrives on the scene and the guy leaves the gate open and runs away down the track and the horse makes it way out onto the track and gallops away only to be late scratched. At no stage did he look to what was happening with Her To Eternity after she ran back into the main birdcage area to check if she had been caught and he did not see her returning to the gate until she was nearly there and then he panicked and ran away. The gate should not have been opened until Her To Eternity was caught and under control. Common sense really.
Dee 0 Report post Posted October 4, 2014 Could not believe my eyes when they let the other horses go to do preliminary without catching the mare - dumb n dangerous gate person and costly for the connections and could also have caused a far worse accident. I hope that person is reprimanded and goes away and hides full of shame. (And never sets foot near another horse or gate) !!
