  1. Bloody brilliant..reckon Mr Balcome and his merry men will soon put out a Press Release with this 'new idea' to be run at a track near you. Can see it now...regional heats ending in a TREX Grand Final - probably at Trentham or Riccarton on the first Saturday in August.
  2. Not questioning your right -or anyone else's right as a micro-owner -to do what you like with your money, just curious to know how the horse's future is determined - assuming there's a block or single owner with 51% controlling its destiny. I note in the Frac 'prospectus' that broodmare rights/future is yet to be determined. I think Te Akau' s policy is that females must be sold at the end of their racing careers to avoid the misery of protracted disputes/legal action etc. Has your HY filly got a name yet, Pete?
  3. So, let's say the filly becomes a rising star and is sold for, say, $2m. How much would you receive?
  4. Based on what I have just read - ie the facts and the terminology, Max wouldn't touch this with a barge pole.
  5. seem to recall he won the thing last year, did he not? So Max will indeed be aboard - thankee for the reminder, as I tend to overlook UK racing.
  6. If the pic of the rebranded vehicle is anything to go by. I'd say April Fool ...but this is NZ Racing, after all
  7. along with The Aroha..Maxi can just feel the love under the mountain.
  8. can't trust spellcheck these days LOLOL
  9. surplus MM deputising for Miss Joolz (or is it Jools?) LOL Tauherenikau is far too difficult to spell LOLOL
  10. Maxi's hunch bet at Te Aroha, eh ... SEAMSEW No form to speak of but has run Top3 in 50% of starts. Can produce a big finish and the long straight, good track at Te Aroha todaywill suit. $34 Odds Surge...in a small-ish field.
  11. What a miserable pack of tosspots you are, NZTR ...a 'prize fund' of $5k for overall Club of the Year, which is laughably small and inappropriate reward to recognise sustained excellence against nationwide competition. I challenge you and your colleagyes, Mr Ballesty, to reconsider this pathetic sum and make it at least $50k for Club of the Year. And if you don't, won't or 'can't', have the good grace to explain why on this forum.
  12. maybe more 'leading' trainers are going down the 'more is better' route. It's all income/turnover of course, whether the horsey wins a race or three or none. Not many win more than 5; and not many pay back their owners in anything other than anticipation/excitement/ thrill of racing and sometimes winning. The dream stays alive while the horse is training and racing well. At least there's more justification for being an owner, now that the stakes are better - who knows for how long?
  13. knowing Max, and his past history of being prematurely (and/or allegedly) 'eliminated' from these Comps, he is quite likely to put in an entry on Saturday anyway.
  14. Max thinks it's that the big money is being splashed around further and wider. Thrilled to see 'hobby breeders' like the Oberholsters and Crofskeys get big returns.
  15. Max is gobsmacked that he is even being considered for Ombudsman after his dreadful tenures at NZ Post and NZTR.
  16. Skymax ran a bold race in the Oaks for 4th. Great effort. Interestingly, she has now had 20 starts - half of them in Black Type races, the Grp 1 Oaks 4th the best stake of her career thus far, a 3rd in the Eulogy next best. 20 starts for just one (Maiden) win, plenty of honest placed efforts, a lot of 4th-8th finishes. I hope she stays sound.
  17. Could've said Bear.
  18. REckon Gary will be thrilled to know there's a winning rider's stake coming his way. How many years ago did he retire? LOL
  19. For obvious reasons, Max has a vested interest in this horse.. a bob each way at every run. That's 19 runs by Oaks Day for the filly by a speed sire (Ferrando) out od a Duelled mare. Skymax is an honest trier who so far has lacked the class factor to be up there with the best girls of her year. But she's fit. The Rogie factor is always troublesome (for this Max, anyway). A stellar career f winners at the highest level(s) over decades but ... ...too many times to the well too often for too many horses (and there have been thousands)?? Go well, Skymax..you'll deserve a decent holiday in a grassy paddock after the Oaks (though I somehow doubt you'll get one!)

  22. Max is reserving his judgment on POJ's win yetserday...small, moderate quality field ...the real test comes when she takes on the best again. Glad the horse is thriving on racing and work, but the risk will always be there for something unpleasant to occur on raceday ...and prehaps a tad more likely to happen given her history.
  23. thanks for posting that. Good work by all involved.
  24. Congratulations to this young lady, who rode her first winner yesterday at her 29th race ride. A day she will never forget. Not every aspiring young rider has a fairytale start to their career - and she must have been wondering "will it ever come"? Hopefully the first of many - and hopefully the scribes at NZTR will do some king of write-up on her accordingly.
