  1. I just don't get this line breeding theory and here is why. 4 stallions and maybe 50 ...70 mares close to 300 years ago, and bang, the book was slammed shut . So every thoroughbred has 999.999% identical genes without question.. 9 out of 10 foals are quite hopeless , 9 out of 10 well bred million dollar babies are quite hopeless too. It is a game of chance. I acknowledge the potency of proven stallions to change the odds a little (but they are getting winning mares to act upon) but there will still be a truck load of useless Frankel's at 220 live foals a year (anyone figures out there?)
  2. $14 million in costs as the industry fades away ! Amazing . Like paying Nero to watch Rome burn . 1st start maidens racing for $38000 A in Australia compared to $12000 NZ . 14 mill ? Oh well when it collapses I suppose these unproductive workers will get a years salary ?
  3. Hello folks. I have recently joined some mates to race 2 horses ...1 in NZ and 1 in Victoria (Bathurst to avoid metropolitan training fees). The invoices tell me the NZ cost is $82 a day and the Bathurst cost is $97 per day. WE race a maiden for total prizemoney in NZ of $12000 and we race a maiden for total prizemoney in Victoria of $38 000 (Australian ) . To me that looks like 400% more prizemoney in Australia for only slightly more costs . Before I start raising my concerns with my mates am I missing something here ?
  4. P4P Best wishes for your wonderful mare today. Very testing ground indeed
