Just read the article.I don't think he jumped on the bandwagon at all.What imo he was pointing out was that it was refreshing to have a sportsman criticise his previous sports which has been in the past considered to be sacriledge.

Previously sportsman towed the line on offering opinions which imo has been a detrement to the sport.

Just the way i read it.
