speed got a reaction from Rules For Some in greyhound racings future
What an absolutely act of bastardry to not allow dogs to be exported, without being desexed.
the more they export, the less they have to rehome

speed reacted to Rules For Some in I rest my case
exactly. I've grown up in greyhound racing. been on both sides of the Tasman. worked in kennels and owned dogs and from where I am now, racing in NZ is too difficult. I no longer own any dogs. last few recently retired and I don't plan on getting more as I now no longer have a license.
The issues regarding certain tracks have been ongoing for a decade. Even recent issues were not acted on until numerous dogs died (e.g., the Cambridge rail breakdown where the club and grnz knew for 5- or 6-months remedial work had to be undertaken). If I was this incompetent in my job now, id be fired. I certainly wouldn't hire any of the people in this industry to run something because they couldn't.
If I were a young trainer in NZ right now, id be looking at moving to Australia ASAP as I doubt racing here is going to last or even be sustainable long term

speed reacted to DoggyDaze in NEW POLL - greyhound racing here to stay? vote closes 2/01/2023
The future of greyhound racing is simple...
If Labour needs the Greens to form a government in October then a full ban of greyhound racing is a bottom line and the industry is done. If national wins then it is fine.
