Why? He had three rides, two of them relatively short priced favourites.
-
Huey's right - any punter who follows NZracing will know that Opie has struggled to make the right weights recently. On Wednesday he couldn't ride lighter than 58kgs, and several of his rides yesterday were at 56.5kgs. If that wasn't an alarm bell, I'm not sure what is. Caveat emptor!

From memory the circumstances were different. I think on that previous occasion he was injured very early on (or became ill) and had to stand-down from all his mounts. Today he didn't relinquish all of his mounts - he still had rides on two relatively short favourites. Further, on Wednesday he was unable to ride at 57.5kgs - had to ride 0.5kgs over, so punters should have been wary with him accepting rides today at 56.5kgs. I see he has been suspended for 3 weeks and fined $2,000. I feel for the guy but agree you can't have a situation where punters continue to get burnt. If he can't make the weight, don't accept the rides. Avantage at 55kgs in the KM a distant memory.

I see Larry Cassidy rode Winx in that video Gruff posted. Boy has he hopped off a couple of good Cox Plate(s) winners

It was just a suggestion - spend $1 - apologies if that offended you.

Wow so much anger over nothing. I made a very harmless (and valid) observation on your Oaks day comp, in response to a similar suggestion from Uneasy, that people should multi up their five selections because if they could pick 5 winners from 5 selections they deserved a decent collect. The resident bully jumped on this with his usual venom, his sycophants joined in, and here we are. Thanks for your offer Yir Tiz but I won't be sponsoring any more comps on here.
-
Now you're not reading (or not comprehending) what anyone is saying. Insider referred to a simple little comp that she put up last Saturday. This was the comp that I referred to in my original question. I thought I made that clear in my subsequent post. The excerpts you've posted are dated 2 March - that's a couple of weeks before "last Saturday" and is clearly a different comp. And what's with the "strangely enough right after Grego" comment? Am I supposed to remember every post I make and who posted immediately before me? Great that you're sponsoring comps but no need to resort to calling people "arses" when you've missed the boat.
-
You're way off the mark here Yir Tiz. I'm talking about the comp that involved picking 5 winners with a single pick in each race. I have no idea what you're talking about with Grego and Treasure and some confidential arrangement, but if you want some recognition for that - congratulations!

How much did it cost you?

The Blackcaps couldn't quite rid themselves of that lowest test score record the other day, but I think the Canes might have lost a record that they've held for some time. I remember we totalled just over $300 one day and I didn't think anyone could top (or bottom?) that. Sorry Ian, I know people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, but team LDM are on the rise - at least we can now see the second to bottom team.

Three losses in a row Last race at Rosehill - Miss Que paying $1.80 to finish ahead of Slow Burn. Slow Burn second up and Miss Que a very nice finish last time.
-
Only one from three last week - reverting to the mean? Today in the Ranvet, Classic Uniform paying $1.70 to finish ahead of Consensus. Consensus hasn't run for a month and is taking on Ozzie group form on a track that probably won't suit.

Pick the Derby/Oaks double...
N1MUE replied to Ponderosa8's topic in Thoroughbred Competitions and Tips
If it's any consolation Cat, entries for this comp closed before Savvy Coup donkey licked them in the Lowland and became the standout for the Oaks -
no I was just going off the earlier reports of people on the ground

Lubaya not good (sorry Lay Mis) but Ferrando better. One more for the day: Toms paying $2.01 to finish ahead of Awesome Al in the last. Awesome Al on a quick back-up from last week and based on its record, 1400m might be a bit too far. Toms to finish over the top of Al.
-
Ah yes - very wrong!
-
Lubaya out to $2.36 in H2H now. Have I got that one wrong?
-
Right, that was better. I've spotted two more I really like today: Lubaya paying $1.85 to finish ahead of Paulownia in the Guineas at Trentham (R6). I really like Lubaya as an each way chance in that field - two nice runs (admittedly in weaker fields) and third up should be perfect. Nice draw and will be finishing over the top of them. Paulownia 1 from 1 but that wasn't a great field and is drawn the outside. Ferrando paying $1.85 to finish ahead of Heroic Valour in Race 7. I'm keen on Ferrando to win this race - likes Trentham, nice little freshen up and jogged in at the recent trial. Matt Cameron enjoying his day at Trentham so far. HV is a good horse but also drawn out a bit.
