Peter Jenkins 2,120 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 Yes back again to try your tipping skills across the Queensland Winter Carnival. Usual rules (well almost!) with a few minor changes. No teams - an individual comp only. STAR jockey/trainer feature continues. Limited to the first 32 entries (with a couple of reserves). The Comp will run in two parts: Part 1 - a 4 week points comp identical to the Sydney Autumn Comp. At the end of 4 weeks the competitors will be seeded 1-32 based on their total points tally. Part 2 - This will be a Head-to-head with seed #1 playing seed#32, etc in week 1. In week 2 all the winners will move into the top 16 and playoff again H-T-H top find the top 8 and so on. Losers will head into their own Group to play off for the Plate, Dish and Wooden Spoon. This way all 32 competitors get to play out the entire 9 weeks of the comp. 1) No Teams - this is an individual comp. 2) Each player will select TWO horses per race and a fictional $10 win will be placed on each of your selections plus a $1 quinella combining them. You may post subs - as many as you choose - in order of preference. 4) For the first 4 rounds the person with the highest tally at the conclusion of each meeting will be awarded 20 points, the runner-up 19 points and so on down to the 20th placed person who will earn 1 point. Below 20th you get zilch. Those who finish above the profit line for the meeting ($21 per race x however many races there are) will have their points tally doubled ! Tied totals will simply be awarded the same points. Rounds 5-9 will be Head-To-Head contests based on the seedings after the first 4 Rounds. 5) Star Jockey/Trainer double-up. You are entitled to (but it is not mandatory) name a star Jockey or Trainer when you post your selections for the round in question. All win bet returns will be DOUBLED if the horse which won is riden by your Star Jockey or trained by your Star Trainer. No changes can be made to the nominated "Star" once posted. This double-up does not apply to quinella dividends. 6) Scratching rule. You may post subs (as many as you choose) with your selections and you may also post replacements later (but before the start time of the first race) for any subsequent scratchings. If your selections are scratched (and no subs or replacements have been named or made) then you will simply not have a runner unless the scratching is a LATE SCRATCHING. Late scratchings will see your selection transferred to the TAB win favourite OR if your other selection is the TAB win favourite
