Very sensible decision, while she certainly has the ability to win a 2YO bonus, a break now will give her a better chance later, particularly in the filly races, the boy that beat you in your first start looked like a more compact 2YO type, while I think your filly will be better as a 3YO, good luck.

The AWT tracks are not as attractive visually as grass. I've been to races at Churchill Downs and watching horses fanned out racing on slush isn't either but of course its a viable venue. The Lindsays let Tony Pike fly little Lucy In The Sky down. I have a HY with Pikes and know how careful they are with their charges. Until someone provides reliable data on the safety of our AWT's I will continue to think that the probable reason AWT are not liked is they favour fast horses which are of course in the minority.

The reality is , and I have over 40+ years discussed it with vets , that if every horse was scoped after a race the majority of horses would present with a small amount of blood in it's lungs . If anybody has played a sport and really exerted themselves they might have gotten an iron taste in their mouths , I regularly got it , pretty much the same thing . Just like I have yet to get a definitive answer from any vet as to why horses bleed , and if they have will they again and when . The horse I consider the best that I ever had bled , just the slightest trickle and when scoped had the smallest tear , less than 1/4 inch , he done that doing the lightest of pace work , never bled again in training after a 6 week break , unfortunately for other reasons never raced again . I have known of plenty of horses that have bled and never bled again and been successful racehorses . and others that just can't cope with the high stress of training and racing . One of the vagaries of racing .

Whether they like it or not , it is setting a precedent , and every time this happens , which hopefully won't be often , whoever needs to will refer to this precedent .

I suppose in simple terms she's going through growing pains. Of late she hasn't trotting like she was, so the decision has been made to spell her.   

In the great scheme of things with a race-horse a nasal bleed is quite minor.  They're even allowed to race again after a short time (3 months from a bleed seen in both nostrils which means the bleed was a bit further down the airway in origin ) as opposed to the quite common little spray you might get from one nostril. You know horses well , but some reading might not realize how common these bleeds are . The amount of air , and under huge pressure is going in and out of a racing horses lungs with Huge forces. There's probably a horse in every race that has minute ruptures along it's respiratory tract of small blood vessels , but we don't see them that much as the blood doesn't often get all the way up to be expelled at the nostril. Horses sure do a bit of nasal flaring and that to catch their breathe though.  I had one pacer that during the run you could get a fine 'mist' expelled with the breathing exertion that would leave a pattern of tiny red spots on my silks sitting behind him in the race . The only way you knew there was a small bleed happening . Outwardly after the race the horse was just normal and no signs around it's nostril or anything. Raced for years without any issue . (Apart from not winning many lol 😆) 

I see that the Patten Committee has made the decision to allow the race to retain it's Listed status,  but they have added a strongly worded sentence or two saying that it does not set a precedent and is unlikely to happen again. [My words not theirs]

Wasn't Trump who blinked first  he made it very clear from the start the USA was open to negotiations with all country's it was China who openly resisted but with the prospect of 60 million unemployed I guess they decided now is the time to start communicating , of course Trump is a great friend of the Chinese leader (when it suits)

Auckland as a new A league club have been given dispensation to go above the salary cap for the first few seasons, hence the extra spending has attracted top quality imported players. Although they have also recruited well. Auckland FC has been good for Football in NZ so I am happy to support them except for "The Jaffa Derby" when I will be there cheering on The Nix

I say , give me the 8k , close up shop and go and have a happier life . I'll take this burden on out of the goodness of my heart .

I now live in Napier but am a Wellingtonian having played Football until I was 60.  I was a Foundation Member of the Phoenix and just this season relinquished membership when I moved. As the saying goes "We have got The Wind, The Rain and the Phoenix"

Phoenix are a victim of their own success, winners then get better offers from richer clubs, and who can blame any player but A League has a salary cap, how many playing for AFC will be looking at better deals?

There is no rhyme or reason to bleeding , even the vets have no idea . I think it all comes down to whether as an owner you feel your horse has earned a retirement from the track or not . Personally I come from the angle of , that if she was my horse and she bled again or something worse then I couldn't live with myself . IMO there's nothing for her to prove as a racehorse so clearly this is just about earning stake money , good luck to them , but not the road I would go down .
