This is beyond farcical, and the C word has been bandied around again with the same two names mentioned. One of whom i hope is being asked some very tough questions at NZTR Board meetings.

Leave Levin and Foxton exactly as they are. They are the CD’s greatest assets as trial tracks. I know that the north would give anything to have two as good as these, used as often. Once again I was at Levin on Tuesday watching 22 heats, with two of mine, a 2 year old having his very first trial ( jump-out) and the older girl preparing for Sunday. The Jump-outs at Levin are different to those up north as these are the equivalent of trials but you don’t have to be officially named. The Foxton trials are so good that there is always Waikato participation. Given the cost of floating I don’t know how they do it, but they do. I bet you any money you want, that those trainers too will want to see Foxton stay they way that it is. Did you know that NZTR want the Levin track sold as they see it surplus to requirements and they want to pocket the money or at least control where the money is spent, so I am lead to believe.

I am very saddened to hear of Jamie's plight. Top bloke. I spent a memorable night with him at Hutt Park when he came north as a young journalist just starting out many years ago. I was showing him around the place and introducing him to fellow journos in the press box at the top of the stand. It was a good place to get out of the wind and rain that always seemed to assail the place as soon as they had a harness meeting there. Good memories all round and Jamie made it especially so. Go well my old friend. -
