  1. What a pathetic response. The guy IS a professional. He gets paid to commentate on horse races. Given he's been doing it for a few years he must be pretty consistent at it. Today he had an absolute shocker. Sure commentators get horse names wrong, sure they get close finishes wrong but to call a horse in 4th that finished 3.2 lengths behind the actual 4th horse is a disgrace. No excuse. None at all. That is incompetence of the highest level. If he does read these pages maybe he will learn a lesson today because there cannot be a repeat of that effort.
  2. It was a pretty ordinary drive by a very ordinary driver who got shown up badly by Brent Mangos in particular. He simply has just got to cop this one on the Luk Chin and get on with it.
  3. C'mon pal 3.2 lengths is an absolute disgrace. I was listening on the radio so no benefit of TV and expect far better than that completely amateurish performance. It was a close finish for 1st, 2nd and 3rd so he obviously had to get that right and then look back but he has gone back to 4th 50metres past the post and you just can't do that. An aboslute shocker. His miss calling of 3rd and 4th on the next two races was not good either as both margins were clear cut but at least they were within a neck. 3.2 freakin lengths, a total disgrace.
  4. Jason Teaz called Alice Webb Ellis into 4th ahead of Waitino Biscuit in race 4. The official margin between them was 3.2 lengths in favour of Waitino Biscuit. Clueless.
  5. Looks good. Skuzi would be the only threat to those two in the 4th heat.
  6. Black?? Its a pretty natural looking brown. Not sure what the big deal is as long as he talks sense.
  7. I see Bradley now has his own cricket show alongside either Kyle Mills or Scott Styris. He also is on radio often so assume he has been axed from TV.
  8. We all like outsiders but Davey Mac will never find one at the dogs. Well no more than a blind squirrel finding a nut from time to time. He is clueless and should not be asked to provide tips for the greyhound races he commentates. As for saying use other resources to find the info you need. All very well but if you can't rely on the man that sees first hand every race from a certain track then that is a very poor indictment on the industry. Again, someone like Rozzo will provide that service very well indeed.
  9. Yes indeed. He actually had the rest of the field easily beat too but couldn't withstand that late withering burst by LM. His driver Bruce Clark had the most aggressive and extravagant whip action I have ever seen and poor old Gammie used to get flogged every time that sadist drove him. The only horse better than Gammie during his illustrious career was Popular Alm.
  10. Trev does ok although his incessant ramblings regarding his quaddie selections and best bet of the day are tough to take. He is also a very average commentator. Rozzo adds a heap of value in the CD and is informative and sometimes a little outside the square which is what you want. I haven't got time to pore over every race so it is important to at least hear the thoughts of the so called experts. The exception is Davey Mac who is clueless. Again, let him commentate but get someone with an ounce of greyhound knowledge to do the tips.
  11. No doubt he did make his original selections not knowing the red hot favourite number 9 dog was back in the field. This just reinforces how clueless he is. Davey Mac is a more than satisfactory commentator he just does not know greyhounds and has no clue when talking about or selecting them. He made Devilskin his bet of the day and the also clueless Ryan Bradley who was talking to him on track side radio made a big deal about punters getting on this great value dog. Shocking advice. Further talk about a dog drawing the 4 alley and in the same barn as the number 8 dog shows just where his head is at. He shouldn't be doing any greyhound tips and the powers that be if they had any clue would know this and look at alternative tipsters.
  12. ....doing the greyhound selections. He has no idea. Commentator yes but just throw a dart at the wall instead of using him. Race 3 today at Otago greyhounds he doesn't put Jinja Squeak in his first four. It is a $1.50 on fixed odds. His first pick Shyness is at 14's and couldn't win if it started now. The TAB are doing the customers a disservice using this clown.
  13. The dog will be having his 200th start at Otago tomorrow and he's not 5 until May. I'm guessing that translates to around a race every 5 days since he began racing for this iron dog. Has a dog ever had more starts in NZ? I know Idle Scott had 209 starts as a trotter and was still racing as a 13 year old. I'm sure plenty of Aussie harness horses have had 200 plus starts also but don't know of any greyhounds. I do know of a greyhound in the USA called Bella Dainty Deb which raced over 500 times and retired as a 5 yo and even though they race on tracks much slower than NZ that is still some feat. .
  14. You need to take anything Graeme Rogerson says with a grain of salt. He is full of BS. Yeah it could win by 10 lengths easing down but I wouldn't trust Rogy as far as I could throw Mark "the beast" Labbett.
  15. I loved the way his father Frank dealt with the media and his son is a chip off the old block. I am a harness man but if I ever buy a galloper, Shaune is the trainer I would send my horse to. Des Coppins interviewed him on radio last Tuesday before two of his horses ran at Ruakaka. Informative, honest and a credit to his profession, Shaune was very bullish about his two horses No Pushover having her first start and Ruby Bloom. No Pushover only ran 4th in a qualifying trial but Shaune stated the run was far better than it looked and the winner of that trial in 58 secs flat had gone onto win impressively first up at Rotorua, She was taking on some smart types but he was confident she was ready to run a big race and loved the price about her. Over the odds at 12's and 3's. She got within a neck of the highly regarded warm favourite Honour Princess, setting up a very nice First 4 of nearly 3K. I got a healthy % of that so with Ruby Bloom starting in the next and Shaune also singing her praises as a great each way value bet I naturally anchored her in all of my multiples. Unfortunately I had the 3rd and 4th horses around the wrong way so missed the first 4 and not being an each way punter I didn't collect a cent off her easy almost 2 length win at odds of 8/1. No matter, Shaune once again had delivered. As will No Pushover when it lines up next.
  16. I must admit I watched the race live and thought the 1 dog had hung on by at least a nose but the angle is deceiving there and the trackside camera is slightly off the finishing line. That been said, be grateful you got the split result as Lagoon Belle was a certainty beaten after losing momentum on the turn. She showed yesterday how good she is by running a slasher in a very strong C3 field where the winner went 30 seconds flat. She will win her next start.
  17. Very impressive debut today, very impressive. Did a lot wrong and still cruised home in front of a filly with big wraps on it. Well done to the owners who tragically lost a smart one a few weeks before Christmas.
  18. Apart from stuffing up the finish of race 2 when he called the fav dog home, Trev picked the finishes very well at Southland on Tuesday. Far better than Davey Mac ever does. In fact he was calling them with so much accuracy I assumed he was using the TV monitor. Come to think of it, why the heck doesn't Davey Mac do that?
  19. Not sure what folk thought happened to these dogs. Any dog or animal for that matter that is passed its use by date and is not wanted as a pet is put down. A trainer like John McInerney who has hundreds of dogs would have to put down dogs every week that are not profitable to race and unwanted as pets. How is this any different from sending retired race horses to the knackers yard or the meat works?
  20. A 7yo with 8 race wins from 45 starts is far from an elite horse. He was above average in Europe I will give you that but far from elite. If the Butts bring an elite horse over in a year or two then look out.
  21. Yep Peak only keeps improving and should dominate the current weak crop of trotters. Top class by NZ standards but just an average horse in Europe. When the Butts bring a top liner over in a year or two then look out.
