I'm not sure what you're getting at there. The press release said that after a 3 month global search they couldn't find anyone so Sherwin had stepped up to fill the gap for 3 months while they continued to look for someone. Then someone said he was a great appointment. I merely pointed out that he hadn't been appointed to the job permanently. I assume if he wanted the job permanently they would have welcomed him with open arms.
I actually try not to be negative in my posts. I prefer to think I offer constructive criticism on occasions, but only when I think I have some relevant experience or knowledge of the subject. You will find I am one of the few who has hardly ever commented on such things as the problems with the Ellerslie track. Te Akau syndicates, the new TAB website and a few other subjects that I know nothing about.
If my comments are considered too negative I am happy to withdraw. I do have plenty of other things to fill in my day with, hence my late night posts.
While all the North Island clubs are making loss's, they are not alone, in the first 8 months of this season;
Addington 319 races $1,920,601 LOSS
ATC 188 races $1,865,184 LOSS
There are 37 clubs, when you compare GBR to Funding;
14 are currently in profit
4 are in a loss situation, but are with in 10% of break even
19 have more substantial losses, including the top 2 examples.
What must have been one of the worst meetings in Harness history, was Addington on Sunday the 10th December 2023.
Funding $1,193,939 GBR $208,393 LOSS $985,549
You can do whatever you want with the horse you buy. Selling as a breeding proprosition only is a guide that she is to be brought for that. Not enforcable.
However if you pay $6M for her it would be crazy to risk a broken leg on a racetrack with her, so she probably won't race again.
Well I'll be negative now.
Bruce led the charge for change and basically rewrote the rules, so now it's his chance to implement them.
It was all about what they did in HK!
Maybe it's harder than first thought trying to make them work in NZ.
Well done Charlie, dont stuff around next time go straight to the RIU..they keep the TAB honest. I did when i had a on going issue with greyhound treble/double payouts..sorted instantly. When you know you are 100% correct and no joy from first attempt with tab. ring RIU
He has shifted back to ChCh Debs......his Mum lives down there and he is working for Scotty Wallace they tell me.
Hope one day he returns to training and driving as he is a big loss to the game.
FF....A good man Mango....and everyone makes mistakes in life.
I know but I like to indulge him so he can still feel relevant . There is no hard and fast rules when it comes to the selling of horses .
I've known people who have re homed horses and have said the person can have the horse but no racing papers .
You own the horse you can state the conditions .
You are right NM she wont be racing again if she is being sold as a breeding proposition only...but no doubt the know all will argue the point for the sake of it.....🙄
I'm sure in the case of a mare of that quality they can put that condition and make it clear that any prospective buyer must sign that waver . She's not a one race winner , exceptional circumstance .
As always you have to poke your unwanted beak in...you just have to be the know all on everything.....or am I not allowed to have an opinion on how I read his message???
Agreed. Probably 80 horses entered including eleven in the maiden 2yo event. I counted roughly twenty first starters throughout the programme so it appears trainers AREN'T entirely averse to running on the synthetic.
