Re read the decision.

He never lost his license.

The fine was suspended for a year.

And he discloses in the case he was going to re apply for his license.

Penalty

The penalty is one of a fine of $1,500. $500 of this fine is suspended for a period of 12 months from the date of this Decision, pursuant to r 174(3), on the condition that the Respondent does not commit any further breach of the Rules of GRNZ within that period, other than a minor Raceday incident dealt with under the Minor Infringement Scheme, in which case the total fine will immediately become payable.

I also have a question is his property a licensed property for the purpose of training greyhounds from as over the last month there have been 2 canterbury trainers training from his facilities.

Thats never been the rules.

In the past, I have stayed in places with people that dont have registered properties to race greyhounds on.

I do know Fergusons kennels are well built so I doubt thered be any issues here.

But he elected to give up his license because he stated he could not afford to pay the fine. I have no doubt his kennels would be well built and up to code.

Yes, but if he decided to get it again, then hed have to pay up.

Thats the way i read it.

My guess is he has paid the fine so can get his license

I had a message from Wendy ferguson telling me get my facts right.

Peter was not suspended

And why can't we help out other trainers get what they can while they can.

After reading this

I wondered what the use of having hearings just a bl__dy joke

I read the judgement. https://racingintegrityboard.org.nz/decisions/non-raceday-inquiry-written-decision-dated-23-january-2025-peter-ferguson/

He got fined. He voluntarily handed in his training license.

Penalty: Trainer Peter Ferguson is fined $1,500 - $500 of which is suspended for 12 months

On 11 December 2024, on being charged by the RIB in relation to this breach of the Rules, Mr Ferguson advised that he was surrendering his Public Trainer’s Licence with immediate effect. GRNZ Licensing advised that they had received an email from Mr Ferguson on 11 December 2024 advising them of the surrender of his Public Trainer’s Licence, effective from that day. GRNZ, as per the Respondent’s request, had subsequently deregistered his Public Trainer’s Licence.

very different from being suspended.

Not a problem.  I do wonder if the industries people, GRNZ and the RIB have just allowed this as since the ban announcement the presentation of trianers appearances have dropped and seems no accountability  for breaking rules and only warnings and suspension handed out.  I read race reports and decisions on hearings to keep update and they seem very limited.
