Marketplace won't be in Brisbane, Pure mate. But Rubira will be and don't under estimate him. He's a very good horse, second best after Marketplace in my opinion. The horse never goes a bad race and is improving with racing. He will arrive there fresh cos no recent racing which could be a good thing he will peak during the carnival. And the master Mark Purdon driving. The Janitor excellent horse but it's always to short to back here. I think the bookies must have got burnt someone got plenty. I would like Leap To Fame to win the Inters. He's such a great horse.\ -
I wouldn't discount Got the Chocolates after his run the other day . They ran the last quarter in 26 and he sat parked for the last lap . If he draws handy in the big one and leads he might upset Market Place -
Well, it's still a wonderful course of live fences.... one of only four left in the country too. Travelling contenders is a part of all high-level feature racing at Riccarton (the 1000 and 2000 Guineas as obvious examples). Even when they still ran regular jumps in the South Island, there were not that many local (Canterbury) steeplechasers. Not competitive anyway. In fact, the last Canterbury-trained Grand National Steeples winner was Eric The Bee in 2002. And he was one out of the box - even went to America to jump. There's only been three South Island-trained winners of the race in the last 30 years (Black Rhythm 1999 and High Forty 2015). The race doesn't need South Island-trained horses though, of course they would be greatly received. There are so many gallopers in the South but for whatever reason, trainers were reluctant to jump them over the past three decades. There should be a 12-horse hurdle race every week in winter in the south. That's assuming the jockeys and educators were available too, which they aren't. -

I'll throw out a roughie at Ascot in race 6 - Ataahua Pipedream Loves the track when it's wet. Has run at Ascot 6 times in soft or heavy for two wins and four placings. Kylie Williams on board, drawn off the fence. There's a couple of nice types in there, but both coming off runs through the Riverton mud only two days prior. Disclaimer - my icon is Beaker because I've betting like a muppet for several years now! -

Just watched a race from.Whanganui and no Justin Evens again, seems to miss more meetings than he's at, would trackside miss him if he was no longer employed?
