Yucatan’s Cup price has fallen from $151 to $4.50
Five of the 24 runners have shortened significantly since the Aussie TAB opened betting on the race 362-days ago, most notably the favourite Yucatan.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained international raider was a $101 chance when originally priced for the Melbourne Cup, firming into $51 when nominations for the race were declared in August and off the back of his commanding Herbert Power Stakes win, he will start favourite on Tuesday, at odds of $4.50.
The second elect, another foreigner Magic Circle has also shortened noticeably, in from a high of $41 to the current offering of $9.
Three roughies have also shortened Geelong Cup Cup winner Runway – as a $201 chance when betting started and punters are now being asked to take $34, the same quote on offer for Japanese stayer Chestnut Coat, a $151 chance last year.
Mooneee Valley Gold Cup winner Ventura Storm is also a big firmer, $101 into $26.
