Winx now has a partner at the top of the world thoroughbred rankings after international handicappers marked English galloper Cracksman’s Champion Stakes victory at Ascot last month the equal of Winx’s best 2018 effort.

The updated Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings were released overnight in Europe confirming the son of Frankel had been elevated five points on the back of his Ascot win to 130 to share the same mark with Winx, who did not improve her ranking with her fourth Cox Plate victory.

This means that both Cracksman, who has since been retired to stud, will end 2018 as joint champion with Winx, whose racing future is still to be decided.

Winx, pictured, earned her 130 rating with her Queen Elizabeth Stakes blitz in April.

The spring carnival in Australia has prompted something of a shuffle in the world rankings also with Best Solution’s Caulfield Cup win taking him to a career-best 121 and equal 28th in the world while The Autumn Son’s Caulfield Guineas performance saw him appear on the rankings for the first time at 120 or equal 38th.

Notably, Redzel rated 121 (equal 28th) for his win in The Everest, which was the same mark he received for winning the inaugural race last year.

The final round of rankings for 2018 will be compiled following the Hong Kong International meeting in December.
