SHINN CAPS TREBLE WITH GROUP 3 VICTORY

Blake Shinn continued in fine form ahead of his imminent departure to Hong Kong when partnering the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Brave Song to victory in the Group 3 WJ Healy Stakes (1200m) – the final leg of a treble for the jockey at Eagle Farm yesterday.

Following his earlier wins on Kordia and Vega One, Shinn mustered a fine effort from last-start Moreton Cup runner-up Brave Song, who justified $4 favouritism when getting the better of Amanaat by half a length, with a further three quarters of a length back to Intuition in third.

However, Shinn came within a nose of completing a memorable four-timer after Pohutukawa was narrowly denied by Invincibella in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara, although the talented horseman was far from despondent following a fine Queensland Winter Carnival which included a four win bag at Doomben on June 1.

“It would’ve been fantastic to win the big one – that would’ve been the icing on the cake but three winners and a few seconds, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to leave Queensland,” Shinn said.
