Kenny Rae and his daughter Krystal Williams-Tuhoro enjoyed a red-letter day when sending out a double at Ruakaka yesterday.
The first leg of the double came when Zelenski won the Racing 13 July Whangarei Cup 2YO Handicap (1000m), and then Viola Vega followed up 30 minutes later when she took out the Fell Engineering Maiden Stakes (1200m).
“I just told Trudy (Thornton, jockey), please don’t push him too hard as this horse is going to go further than just a two-year-old,” Rae said of Zelenski.
“He shouldn’t even be a two-year-old. He’s very promising.”
Of Viola Vega, Rae commented: I told Rowena (Smyth, jockey) that she does have ability and can run so when the penny drops, she will win races. She can gallop and just needs to get her head turned around a little bit.”
