The Queensland government will deliver an additional $10.5 million in funding to the state’s racing industry from next week, a move welcomed by Racing Queensland.
The funding comes on the back of $18 million announced last November for thoroughbred racing and additional $8 million will go to the code as the second part of the deal.
The other $2.5 million in the latest instalment will be used to fund greyhound and harness racing prize money.
“Racing Queensland remains extremely grateful to the Queensland Government for their funding support,” RQ chairman Steve Wilson said.
“As an industry, we were committed to delivering reform measures and enhancing our viability, long-term sustainability and competitiveness with other racing jurisdictions.”
