PRETTY IN PINK EARNS STRADBROKE START

Three-year-old filly Pretty In Pink downed her elders in a thrilling finish to the Group 2 Moreton Cup (1200m) at Doomben yesterday, securing her place in next week’s Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm with a maiden Group 2 success.

Trained by John O’Shea, Pretty In Pink held off the last-gasp challenge of the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Brave Song, who flew late for jockey James McDonald but failed by a nose. There was a further neck back to Winter Bride in third.

Twice placed at Group 2 level last season after landing the Listed Woodlands Stakes (1100m) on her second outing as a juvenile, Pretty In Pink is now a $26 chance with the TAB for the $1.5 million Stradbroke Handicap, which O’Shea has plundered with a three-year-old filly in the past, when Private Steer landed the spoils in 2003.
