A trials meeting will be held at Otaki next Tuesday to again the test the surface of the upgraded track.
Last Sunday’s meet was abandoned after race three when a horse slipped.
It was the first meeting in almost 8 months at Otaki. Jockeys gave it the all clear before the start of racing while local trainer Johno Benner galloped some of his horses on it and couldn’t see any reason why racing couldn’t resume.
Stipe Neil Goodwin said the track looked ‘”beautiful” and was gobsmacked when the day ended early.
He has been back to inspect the track since.
Up to 30 heats could be held next Tuesday depending on entries.
The fate of the club’s November meeting would likely hinge on a trouble-free trials meet.
