OLIVER SUSPENDED FOR ANOTHER 10 DAYS

Despite kicking home a winning double at Flemington on Saturday, champion jockey  Damien Oliver’s afternoon took a turn for the worse when he was handed a ten-meeting suspension.

Oliver was cited for careless riding in the final 50 metres of the $A160,000 All Victorian Sprint Series Final (1200m), in which he rode the runner-up Milwaukee. Stewards found that he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Sirius Suspect, who was ridden by Linda Meech.

The suspension, which came on the same day he returned from a steward-enforced holiday for excessive whip use, will see Oliver out of action until July 17.
