Nature Strip rebounds thanks to McDonald 

Nature Strip  won the G1 Moir Stakes at the Valley last night, thanks to a superb ride by James McDonald.

Nature Strip’s trainer Chris Waller   was rapt with the horse’s’ win..

Nature Strip over-raced in what Waller described as “a disaster” in the Concorde Stakes but the champion trainer did not expect a disappointing repeat in the Moir Stakes with a high speed likely throughout the $1 million event.Last night’s  win followed the speedster’s  fourth from barrier two in the Group III Concorde Stakes (1000m) last time out.

”James said after his last start “I hope he draws wide because then he can find his natural space easily’,” Waller said

Last night the son of Nicconi  was   best out of the barriers.and just held on.

Leonidas was second and Sunlight and third.

Rondinella just denied Valley win

Rondinella was  an unlucky second in the  Stutt.

It found a gap late, bursting through but couldn’t collar Prince Jenni

@NZ Cup winner Bizzwinkle was third in the Benalla Cup, refusing  to give up despite  being under pressure at the home turn.

 

@Captain Cook won the Jra Cup, narrowly denying former Kiwi Trent Busuttin a winning treble (Sully).Linda Meech celebrated the winning rifde.
