MCEVOY SUCCESSFUL AT DONCASTER

Australian jockey Kerrin McEvoy, who is currently booked for 14 rides over the first four days at Royal Ascot, secured his first winner in Britain this year when steering the Charlie Appleby-trained Sacred Dance to victory in a fillies’ novice stakes (7f) at Doncaster yesterday.

The promising juvenile scooted two lengths clear in the closing stages to bolster McEvoy’s fine record at the track, which is headlined by Rule Of Law in the 2004 Group 1 St Leger (1m6.5f) and Ibn Khaldun in the 2007 Group 1 Racing Post Trophy (1m).

McEvoy’s Royal Ascot mounts include a brace of top-tier rides tomorrow, with Mythical Magic beginning proceedings in the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes (1m) shortly before Houtzen lines up in the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes (5f).
