Former Queensland trainer Ron Maund has been fined $2000 with no conviction recorded on charges of assaulting two Racing Integrity officers.
In the District Court in Toowoomba yesterday, Maund, 75, pleaded guilty to one count of serious assault while armed and one count of serious assault.
The court heard the two officers from the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission went to a property on November 14, 2017. There was a confrontation between the pair and Maund, who grabbed a can of engine degreaser and sprayed it towards the men.
The court heard Maund accepted some went near one steward’s eyes. Judge Greg Koppennol fined Maund $2000 and did not record a conviction.
