JOHN ALLEN STARTS LENGTHY SUSPENSION

Australian-based John Allen will return home to Ireland to refresh ahead of the spring, with the leading jockey set to begin a lengthy stint on the sideline having been suspended from yesterday evening.

Allen took his season tally to 111 Victorian wins at Echuca on Sunday, claiming race three aboard the well-backed Desert Dreamer, and currently sits just three victories behind the injured Linda Meech.

However, Allen was handed a ten-meeting suspension at Sandown on Saturday for weighing in one kilogram overweight in race six, and also needs to serve his bans for careless riding suspensions at Doomben and at Pakenham.

He will serve his Doomben suspension from June 16 to June 29 before his Pakenham suspension kicks in until July 9. He then must serve his suspension from Sandown and so will be unavailable to ride again until July 18 – just 13 days before the season ends.
