New Zealand owned and trained mare Igraine will have the final start of her career in the Listed Grafton Cup (2400m) on July 11 before being sent to be covered by Coolmore stallion Fastnet Rock.
The Galileo mare, trained by Robert Priscott, capped a good Queensland carnival with victory in last Saturday’s Listed $A180,000 Caloundra Cup.
Igraine was purchased by Paul Moroney on behalf of Trelawney Stud for 65,000gns at the 2017 Tattersalls Broodmare Sale in Newmarket and won the Group 3 Counties Cup (2400m) in November.
“He’d (Fastnet Rock) be the obvious choice for her,” said Trelawney principal Brent Taylor.
“It’s a cross that works particularly well. When we breed mares in Australia, we try to focus on proven stallions. He’s certainly that and we’ve had good success with him in the past.”
