Multiple Grade 1-winning filly Almond Eye was among the 11 invitees for the 2019 Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m), which is due to take place at Moonee Valley on October 26.
Group 1 winners Aerolithe, Indy Champ and Kiseki have also been invited from Japan, along with Kluger, who finished second to Winx in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick in April.
Meanwhile, the Saeed bin Suroor-trained Benbatl, who finished second in the race last year, is one of three Godolphin horses on the list of invitees for the Cox Plate, along with his stablemate and Caulfield Cup (2400m) winner Best Solution and Charlie Appleby’s Ghaiyyath.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Magical also features, while the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Crystal Ocean has earned an invitation. The Roger Varian-trained Zabeel Prince, who was most recently seen landing the Group 1 Prix d’Ispahan (1850m) last month, rounds off Moonee Valley Racing Club’s wish list of invited runners.
