GOLLAN SAYS ‘BARBIE’ DESERVES CHANGE OF LUCK

Tony Gollan will be hoping Outback Barbie can have a change in fortune when she takes her chance in Saturday’s Group 1 Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The filly has had 12 career starts for two wins and has endured luckless passages in her other ten starts, while Gollan also mooted the possibility of a two week back-up into the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m).

“I don’t think she would be a certainty to get into the Stradbroke but I also don’t think she would be out of place,” he said.

“She is by Spirit Of Boom and he and his brother Temple Of Boom raced well without winning in the Stradbroke. We will get a better idea of her chances of a Stradbroke start after Saturday and after first acceptances next week. She is also entered for the Tatts Tiara and that is another race which will suit her.”
