GODOLPHIN EYEING EVEREST SLOT

Godolphin has expressed interest in securing the vacant slot for The Everest (1200m) which was forfeited by Damion Flower.

Racing NSW announced last week that Flower’s forfeited slot would not necessarily go to the highest bidder but to “the person or organisation that brings benefit and adds to the promotion and appeal of the race”.

Vin Cox, managing director of Godolphin Australia, said: “We are certainly looking at it and if we can get an arrangement that suits us we could potentially go that way. We might have to come up with something creative in terms of the process for the criteria of the slot.”

The James Cummings-trained trio of Alizee, Osborne Bulls and Microphone could be among the candidates to represent Godolphin in the $14 million race should they gain the slot.
