Prolific Western Australian owner-breeder Bob Peters has confirmed that his Group 1-winning mare Galaxy Star would not race again and will be covered by Coolmore’s unbeaten US Triple Crown winner Justify.
A rising seven-year-old, Galaxy Star bowed out after winning the Group 3 Strickland Stakes (2000m) at Belmont on Saturday.
Peters hinted after the mare’s latest success that it was likely to be Galaxy Star’s last start and confirmed the decision yesterday.
She earned $1,546,000 in prize-money in 19 starts made up of 13 wins and six placings. Justify’s introductory Australian service fee is being kept private.
