I  enjoyed Miss Jools's posts.Whatever happened to her?(Hope that was grammatically correct)

Dear Mr Brush
I suspect Miss J would consider you a STAR PUPIL, based solely on that response. She would, of course, tell you that there should be a space between the end of one sentence and the beginning of another; and that a fullstop should go immediately after the word 'correct'.

LOL. Horses are more 'annaying' than Max (aren't they, esp the losing ones!)
oh and it's 'you're' in this case, not 'your'... don't thank me, learned everything I know from Miss Jools

Oh you have surpassed Miss Jools , you picked up both errors and pointed them out without too much condescension .

One for Bendigo tomorrow Maxy. Been waiting for this filly since her one run at Caulfield a while back where she was impressive and unlucky.

R1 Point Barrow - currently $3.50 which is shorter than hoped but hey ho…tough race though, nice sorts in it.

👍

Tough field, indeed! I have it on top, but Espana placed behind Ole Miss twice last prep, which is arguably better form. Point Barrow might be looking for further? But.... seems like a nice type in the making.

I’m sure the Freedmans have bigger targets than this in mind but you have to start somewhere…must say I am surprised at how short she is, nice trial tho.

Follow wherever she goes, particularly if Zahra goes on. 👍

NZ TAB says opened $3.10. ..there are 5 scratchings at this stage from the 16 acceptors. Max is a tad reluctant to put much on anything here - Soft track, many resuming after trialling, inexperienced 3yo maiden fillies ...a recipe for disaster and right up the bookies' alley ..if I were given a free pick I'd go EW on debutante Perfect Night with Mick Dee riding, from the Hayes barn -has won a jumpout 10 days ago and $14 is at least some value.

A lot to learn, but a decent win. Might need to improve 2-3 lengths to win in the city, but can only win!

I’m sure she will. Good pipe opener if a little close for comfort…..🙈 Look what they did with Mahroona last year.

Useless TAB reduced payout $3.20 down to $2.42.

What is the point of fixed odds if they can change them to suit themselves ?

True, but the second favourite was scratched this morning. It's a percentage, and it's better than the $1.95 it dropped to.

By Hokey he's done it...and so has the nice little horsie...got Maxi's Multi off to a fine start. Thank you, good sir.

Maher stable runners today…a winner or two here…..👍

Caulfield (VIC)

R1 – Epic Proportions & Cavallo Rampante
Cavallo Rampante has travelled down from Sydney to kick off her preparation. She resumes with a decent gap between runs, has drawn wide, but her first-up record is good and she’s been working well at home. Epic Proportions had excuses last start and carries strong race fitness into this. The step back in trip suits and, if he runs to his previous form, he’ll be competitive. Reece likes him as has tipped as his Value Bet of the Day.

R2 – Federer
Federer goes around with blinkers on for the first time. He had excuses last start but looks well placed here—fit, back in distance, and with Blake Shinn in the saddle we’re hoping for an economical run in what is a competitive race.

R3 – Damehood & Vienna Vixen
Damehood is on the cusp of a run and we’ll make the call Saturday morning. She’s race fit, the step up in trip will suit, and we’ll look to have her more forward in running. Vienna Vixen’s is also a maybe —if the rain alters the field she may run, otherwise she has options midweek.

R4 – True To Form
True To Form had excuses last start but has drawn ideally here. With Jamie Melham aboard, we’ll look to take up a forward position and make use of his fitness.

R5 – Jimmy Recard
Jimmy steps up to Group level after an impressive start to his preparation. Jamie was taken by his jumpout and was keen to stick with him. The map and conditions look suitable and we couldn’t be happier with him. Track Kat was very pleased with his sharp trial and gallop figures. Additionally, being a CC Short Gene Type, she thinks the drop back to 1100m will suit.

R6 – Custom & Signature Scent
We saddle up two classy fillies in the Quezette. Custom was a last-start winner, has had a jumpout, and while up in grade she has shown real quality. Ethan Brown was keen to stay with her and Track Kat has been impressed with her data and the ease of how she does her work. She’s a filly with plenty of upside and one to watch throughout her preparation. Signature Scent returns after a jumpout between runs—she is two starts for two wins and in great form. It’s a strong and open race, but we’re delighted with both fillies heading in.

R7 – Keep Your Cool & Recommendation
Recommendation backs up after a solid effort at Morphettville. He loves the track and we’ll look to use our gate and fitness to advantage—his best is good enough. Keep Your Cool is a raceday decision pending the track, but if she runs she comes back in distance off a tick-over jumpout and presents in good order.

R9 – Kings Valley & Running By
Kings Valley resumes after two jumpouts; his first-up record is strong and while he’ll want further in time, this looks a good stepping stone. Running By is also a raceday morning call, but she was good last start and this maps nicely for her.

Rosehill (NSW)

R3 – Without Peer
Without Peer won on debut at this track and will only improve from the run. He’s drawn well but the surface is a query as it will be for many.

R4 – Sacred Rocks
Our classy mare returns to Rosehill after a forgivable last run. The Panel have confidence she can bounce back and have made her their Best of the Day. While she has no exposed heavy form, she has jumped out well on a heavy surface in the past so we are confident she can get through it and produce a good effort.

R6 – Nana’s Wish
We’ve kept Nana up in Sydney and this race looks a nice fit. She’s drawn well, gets the claim with Braith Nock, and is racing consistently. Proven on rain-affected going, she should be hard to beat.

Shinjina, who was scratched from the race on Wednesday just won at Sale, so that's probably a good sign.

A couple at Sandown today..

R7 Sun Setting $6 - should have won last start, Mick Dee rides

R8 True to Form $8.50 - Maher runner dropping in class

The self-appointed Director of the cash-strapped MPF (Maxi's Punting Fund) has treated this as a serious 'Buy' recommendation and acted accordingly. In case this tiny speculation doesn't 'work out' as planned ...what's yer address?

🏇 Antz Official Saturday Set

With the big guns hitting the track this weekend, there’s no better time to launch Antz official Saturday set. We’ve lined up the best bets across Randwick and Moonee Valley, mixing class, value, and that touch of Saturday flair every punter’s chasing.

🔥 Best Bets

Randwick Race 7 – #4 Autumn Glow

⭐ Confidence: 4/5

• Why we like it (Pros): Sharp turn of foot, strong stable form, perfect map to sit just off the leaders. Everything screams “ready to win.”

• Watch out for (Cons): Still early in her prep – could peak deeper into the campaign.

Randwick Race 8 – #9 Via Sistina

⭐ Confidence: 4.5/5

• Why we like it (Pros): Consistently performs at a high level in Australia, showing sharp finishing speed and tactical versatility. On her day, she can dominate even the strongest fields.

• Watch out for (Cons): Tends to get back in her races, so if the tempo slackens or traffic appears, she’s vulnerable to bad luck late.

Moonee Valley Race 7 – #5 Oak Hill

⭐ Confidence: 3.5/5

• Why we like it (Pros): Loves the Valley, maps perfectly, and has the tactical speed to control the race. Previous form is rock-solid.

• Watch out for (Cons): Can be hit-and-miss if he doesn’t jump cleanly – needs a trouble-free run.

🎯 Best Each-Way

Randwick Race 9 – #4 Lazzura

⭐ Confidence: 3/5

• Why we like it (Pros): Honest, consistent mare who always gives a sight. Drops back in grade and looks nicely placed for a big run at odds.

• Watch out for (Cons): Has a knack of running into a better one on the day. Punters will need each-way cover.

💰 Value Play

Moonee Valley Race 8 – #5 Pounding

⭐ Confidence: 2.5/5

• Why we like it (Pros): A genuine Valley warrior who thrives under pressure. Will relish a strong tempo and can bob up at a nice price.

• Watch out for (Cons): Faces a tough field and lumping weight – needs to produce something close to career-best.

📊 Antz Take

This week’s set has balance:

• Class horses: Via Sistina & Autumn Glow – strike power at the top.

• Track specialists: Oak Hill & Pounding – horses that love their surroundings.

• Value angle: Lazzura – perfect each-way punt.

⚖️ Strategy: Back the best bets with confidence, play Lazzura each-way, and sprinkle something on Pounding for a juicy return if the cards fall right.

👉 That’s the official Saturday set. Bet smart, manage the bankroll, and let’s chase some winners.

Dont normally tip as I am the first to admit I am shyte at it but one tomorrow a friend races is Gotfred Kirk, they have a big opinion of him.

Yes I like him a lot too, backed him last start when he won at Sandown (win rated 10L above standard), off the back of a good finish on debut. Has got a massive finish on him, and I like the stallion especially with 3yo over 1400m+. Only issue I have with it tomorrow is likely to settle last which is never a great place to be at the Valley.

I think the first race at Te Rapa shapes as a potentially nice 3yo race. Plenty of well bred types, for most of them have trialed up a treat.

No knock on the favourite, looks a nice horse for Pike who has been good at the trials. But I think Dashing is the one for me for Danica Guy. Another who trialed up nicely, strong to and beyond the line, winning in faster time than Quantum Legend and also think Mizette trialed well too, for a boom stallion and at decent money. We could see half of this field down at Riccarton for the Guineas races.
