A horse I've been waiting for a little while is Mr. Marigold , race 6 at Hawera , he's been in and scratched a couple of times waiting for a heavy track , has shown a bit, nice at 7s.

Thought might back Sienna on jockeys challenge, but wow, only paying $1-55, so not for me. She probably wins it, just hope Rags is a winner. Good luck to you too

Ciaron Maher and Jabez Johnstone combo have a 30% winning strike rate so my tip for today at Caulfield is just back them. They combine in 6 races and have really good chances in 5 of them - race 1 #2, race 2 #2, race 3 #6, race 6 #1, race 8 #10.

Patrick Payne trained 3yo with 1 start for a win and some big bets on it today

Pity no competition this week as would be great BB

Caulfield – Soft 7

 

1 – Angels Fury

Won her maiden impressively at Bendigo first-up. Has since had a maintenance jumpout in between and comes into the race a deserving favourite. Will likely have to sit wide throughout, but she is a filly with a tonne of ability and should be winning. Classy filly.

 

2 – Naval Academy / Zouper Fund

Naval Academy has had a couple of fitness runs going into this and he should be ready to run out the 1100m with two runs now under his belt. Drawn out wide, so Logan will likely go roll forward and we feel he is fit enough to tough it out.

 

Zouper Fund is second-up with some time between runs. He looks well placed here given the competition and has the claim to boot. Will likely land midfield from that gate and, with clear running room, he should be strong to the line late. Both Josh and the Data Team like his chances, having him as one of their best!

 

3 – Glam Award / Jenni Gone Bonkers

Glam Award was scratched from Wednesday's assignment due to a wide barrier. She would have had no chance the way the track was playing and we have drawn much better on Saturday. Rated reasonably well first-up and with natural improvement stepping up to the 1400m, she could surprise at each-way odds.

 

Jenni Gone Bonkers has prepped up extremely well at home. Drawn a touch sticky in 9 and it will require a good ride from Jett. Up against in-form horses with last start wins, so she's going to need to bring her best early on in the prep.

 

4 – Satin Diva / Signature Scent

Satin Diva is third-up off a tough outing at Caulfield last start. She will be a race morning decision, given another tricky barrier to contend with. If she were to wait, there is a 3YO BM64 Handicap over 1000m at Sandown-Hillside next Wednesday, which looks suitable.

 

Signature Scent has had a little freshen in between starts. She had a maintenance jumpout to bring her back up to the mark and she looks well placed to run well here. Rarely runs a poor race and with residual fitness on her side, she can run a race against weaker company than what she's been facing.

 

5 – Amleto

In career-best form. Backed up his maiden win on Australian soil with an honest second at Caulfield last start. Has got the hungriest jockey in Victoria aboard and drawn perfectly to take out this contest. He carries his form over, he's one of the leading contenders. His training has piqued the interest of the Data Team as one of their favoured runners for the day!

 

6 – Decalogue / Ichnusa

Decalogue was saved from last Saturday's contest at Flemington due to the wide barrier. That decision has paid dividends with the plum draw and Jabez gets back on for some weight relief. He only has to hold his form to keep the picket fence going.

 

Ichnusa won nicely on debut at Seymour first-up. This is a big jump up in grade and he will also be a race morning decision on whether he runs. Looks a promising type and has options going into next week if we decide to wait.

 

7 – Recommendation

Has been improving with each run this prep and was back to near his best start at Flemington. The barrier is a clear concern and Tom will have to navigate his way in the first half of the field without using him up too much. With an even run in transit, his best is up to this.

 

8 – Ten Commandments

Airborne. The clear standout and will be the anchor of plenty of multi's for the day. Jabez retains the ride and the only concern could be the barrier. He wouldn't want to step too slowly and be buried on the fence. If he gets a good trailing run, he'll be very hard to hold out.

Could be a good form race as there are two other P Payne horses and two C Maher horses in the race who all have quite good form and a few people talking them up.

Had Explosive Impact same race.  Dont think it was as wet as it needed to be for our two picks.  I did my form expecting H9 or worse but gee whens the last time Hawera in July with a true rail had more winners closer to the inside rail than the outside rail

Oh well, 1 won, other 3 came 3rd. Backed EW, win multi and place, so a good day. Looking at other results, lucky i only had these 4 bets.

I like Secret Rendevoux in the first,looks a good one to follow speed after two checkered runs and with Tommy in there should be plenty. Wigram claims 4 its over already...$3.50

R2.. Alc Atraz 20s ...interesting horse looks solid,but will it be enough to stop Toss who meets weaker race but both drawn out? Long island looks above average and  In R5 its just a matter of staying on as Sweet but Psycho looks 2nd best bet of the day.. Buying money. Bet Responsibly

Like where you're coming from. Secret Rendezvous looked very unlucky last week and doesn't have much to beat. Looks an anchor in a full percentage quaddie. L2, surely Bosch. L4, Long Island ready to put his hand up in a weakish field but Escape Room went ok fresh up at Ellerslie and Capote 2L in front of him has since been a winner. Even Tall Timber. Connections had a throw at the stumps in the spring when unplaced (last) at big odds in the Bonecrusher. What do they say, where's there's smoke there's fire.   L3, I'll chuck in your tips but feel I need go wider. There's too many local starters for my liking. And a Melbourne Cup winning jockey on Centanni. Got to have him on old time's sake. Both comeback kids, but very different reasons. Good luck

Summit Rendezvous…now $4 on odds surge. Looks hard to beat with claim.

Interesting local Rotten Tommy backed in from $12 to $4.50.

R3 Ex Oz Pen is Mighty and Tartan Shocka for odds.
Durrani and Santita in the last two races worth a look.

Rotten Tommy's trial up there last week was impressive. Open class winner  Whisky'n'Roses couldn't catch him. It's a big drop from the opening quote. Local money or TAB bookies pulling our leg? He's taken off like a scolded cat before on more than one occasion but chucked it in.

Good luck with those two tomorrow Gruff n Stuff, like Line Dancer last start, only on breeding, paid 20s a place, talked myself out of backing it, in same race as alc atraz both horror draws on that track, will need plenty of luck, Looking forward to Sunday at Oamaru,the pair are reunited again, for a chance of that race meeting in the South, good course record, and about time the gun rider was back on, couple other mine in to, Tavi Ann always running on for last 3 starts that’s what see seems good at, maybe tad unlucky last start, odds short, Tralee bay, Captain Upham, both rough same race captain out of his grade, just about the last winner I backed when he paid 60$ at Greymouth, Ruffhouse Rosie goes ok, this her second run back, been a long time between drinks.

Well, there you go Gruff. They couldn't get him. In hindsight it does look like the TAB initially reacted to some early local support in halving his opening and eased a bit on the day. In contrast they came out of the woodwork to be on the the one we liked. Just a pass mark.

He is only a 2yo so still developing…will want further than 1200m.

Leighton was pretty bullish about RT this morning..drift to $7.50 was ok.

Think hes got a big future but daresay his ride in R2 wasnt much better.  Having two speed duels in a seven horse 2100m rarely works out well... confirmed with those horses being the last 3 home.
