One for the Derby , Professional lad , been following this horse from the start and he has gone some great races but his last couple have been impressive .

His win yesterday was impressive , he was flat at the corner but just kept winding and whilst quite green in the final 100 or so I thought here is a horse that is looking for much more ground , his mother was a good stayer and any rain about for the Derby will only improve his chances .

I would think they will come north for the Avondale GNs to let him have a look around .

Good money at 13s .

You'd think he'll stay on pedigree. Dam a staying type but more critically VRC Derby and Auckland Cup winner Sangster close up in pedigree.

Genki is pretty short for R1 Tauranga but on his run in the Salver he looks very hard to beat. Bosson up. Do or die if he's going to make the cut for the Derby. Then again, there's a couple of others in the same boat - and one or two looking at the Oaks. Too short for me.

Sorry PKR , I've just re read this post and realized that I replied thinking Genki was running in Gns on Saturday , why ??

Because I didn't even realize there was races on today till a couple of minutes ago .

Symptomatic of my malaise about NZ racing , even I can't believe how little interest I have some days .

Seems I may have saved my money .

Missed the race PKR , he didn't even finish top 4 , what happened .

I've got too much time on my hands of late. I think he's balloted out in the Gns so connections looked at today. But he won't be going to the Derby now, you wouldn't think. Arguably,  no fault of his own with the slow pace in the race - but Bosson could have 'shown initiative' and whipped him around from the rear! Saint or sinner. Them's the breaks. Anyway, the Derby is shaping up pretty well and no disrespect to connections Genki would have probably struggled if he had made the cut. Didn't even consider a bet at that price.

Radio did show some railing issues last time, looks like the bookies framed it to attract flies 🤣 , needs box 8...

Wouldnt be surprised to see General Blu at 1.7

That's the plan, I believe.   A very smart horse with an astute trainer.

However, he'll need to be good to overcome the added difficulties of both a long trip away and not having raced or even worked reverse to any extent ( as far as I know).

A horse that beat it at the trials looks a good bet at Wingatui R2.

Eternal Light - Tina on. If you look at what she has been running against..

Miss Starlight, Belle du Monde, Miss Ziggy, Cool Aza Rene etc

$4 + looks pretty good.

Draw not great but 1400m fresh up suggests she is ready to go.

Call me crazy but can Sacred Satano pay a divi in the G1 BCD Group Sprint? At best he could make the Top 4. His run on the Railway wasn't that bad - remove the first three home and he wasn't that far away, fresh up after a disappointing start to a spring campaign.  Wallace & Cooksley produced a couple of roughies over the Christmas/ New Year and having Warren Kennedy up is no disadvantage.

Hasn't had a lot of luck this prep and I wouldn't be surprised if he ran a drum .

Hey hokes what did you think of the ride on Lunaman ? ....cost me a nice multi but can you blame the jockey? im not sure , although moving forward i would replace with Mick Dee because looks a good chance over 2400

not usually one to be looking at short odds chances but Navy Ensign R3 tomorrow looks overs even at 2.4 .

Ran second in all 4 starts , but look at the 4 horses that beat him .

Sitter for a multi , I've gone with Wee Nessy in the first .

Unlucky there Gruffy. He certainly had to work to get handy, then looked like he would drop out but came again near the line. Sweet Ice the blackbooker there.

To be honest O , I'm not convinced that the Derby winner comes out of that race .

I think if the filly Ohope Wins starts it will go very close , Aksil and Professional lad look the other 2 that look like they will run the trip .

Wee Nessy much better last start, deserves a win. No great fan of Barnes though.

My roughie is Emmy Award at $15 with Doyle on. 1600m should suit and had to laugh at comment “ pretty plain over 1400m when beaten 0.5 lengths at Ruakaka”

Who beat it ? Autumn Glory, who won Saturday and second fave for the Oaks !
