Randwick R1 #8 Against The Law with Randwick R6 #1 Within The Law multi for approx $20 odds

Bound to be a winner or two from the Maher camp today…..

Moonee Valley (VIC)

R1 – Angel Ladder & Cherish Me
Angel Ladder and Cherish Me both make their first appearance around the Valley. Angel Ladder is fit and should roll forward with some pace. Cherish Me is second-up, has had an impressive jumpout between runs, and wears blinkers for the first time. She heads in as favourite and should be very hard to beat. Reece and Track Kat are both confident and have marked her as their Best Bet. 

R2 – Ardakan, Flamin' Romans, Jennivamoose & Wyclif
Ardakan brings the speed to the race and, if he can hold the lead, could return to form here. Flamin’ Romans was good at this track last start—fit, light weight, and a nice each-way chance. Jennivamoose, who won that same race, closed off strongly and looks spot-on fitness-wise. She’s a mare on the way up and well in the mix. Wyclif was much improved last start and has drawn the inside barrier. With the top weight, he’ll need a good ride.

R3 – Exit
Our progressive filly returns for her first look at the Valley with in-form Mark Zahra aboard. It’s a small, tactical field, but with a smooth run in transit, she’ll be hard to beat.

R4 – Elsie May & Rise To It
Elsie May has been ultra-consistent this prep and is right in the mix, she does have other options in the coming week, so may be a race day morning call.  Rise To It was good here last start and looks a genuine each-way chance. He’ll be on speed, well-weighted with Logan Bates, and drawn the inside.

R5 – Oyster Lane
Oyster Lane has been ultra-consistent and handled the Valley well last start. He’s again drawn wide, but with strong speed expected, the race should set up for him. Flying at present—he looks a top-three chance with even luck.

R6 – Mr Monaco
Mr Monaco makes his first start for the stable since arriving from Europe. He’s one to improve with racing and distance, but he’s drawn perfectly and the track should suit.

R8 – Detonator Jack, Go Daddy & Okita Soushi
Detonator Jack has drawn ideally and has the blinkers on. With Logan riding in great form, his best is more than good enough if he gets the right run, Reece is confident in his chances and has listed him as his other Best of Day. Go Daddy makes his Australian debut for the stable—he’ll improve with the run and wants further, but he’s a class horse to watch into the Spring. Okita Soushi resumes after a good break. He too will be better over further, but it’s great to have him back for a big campaign.

R9 – Extratwo, Keep Your Cool & Veloce Carro
Extratwo resumes at her favourite track. She’s trialled nicely, has won first-up before, and removes the blinkers. Keep Your Cool has been freshened and comes back in trip—she just needs luck from the gate to be a winning chance. Veloce Carro also loves the Valley, strips fitter from his return run, and has won here before. We think he’s over the odds.

 

Randwick (NSW)

R3 – Juja Kibo & Piggyback
Juja Kibo was a strong winner last start in similar conditions. With Braith Knock’s claim, he’ll be very hard to beat and The Panel have him as their Best of Day. Piggyback also handles heavy ground and is peaking in fitness. This will be her first try at the trip but Track Kat is bullish on her chances and has tipped her.

R4 – Lugh
Lugh was impressive winning last start with Tommy Berry. He drops back in distance but has more to offer and looks set to start favourite.

R7 – Hi Dubai
Hi Dubai resumes after a break. She’s proven on heavy ground at Randwick before but has drawn wide and will likely need the run.

R8 – Gringotts & Light Infantry Man
Both resume in what shapes as an exciting edition of the Winx Stakes. Gringotts is consistent, has a strong first-up record, and maps for a good run. Tommy has been pleased with his trials, and we’re hopeful of a top-three finish if he handles the ground. Light Infantry Man is in terrific form and a genuine class horse. He prefers drier conditions, but he’s always one to respect.

R9 – Corniche
Corniche is second-up after a nice return, hitting the line well. He’ll strip fitter, has drawn a fair gate, and has won on a Heavy 10.

 

Morphettville (SA)

R8 – Running By
Running By  finds suitable conditions in Adelaide and has made the trip over. She’s in excellent form and lines up in the Leon Macdonald Stakes. She has drawn a wide gate but we think she is a Top 3 chance.

 

Eagle Farm (QLD)

R4 – Berezka
Berezka has been racing consistently in Queensland and looks ready to win. With the right run, she’s a genuine top-three chance.

R7 – Kettle Hill
Kettle Hill has travelled north and drops back in grade after a good last run. Blinkers go on, conditions suit, and he’ll be ridden forward in attempt to find his best form.

Stick with him Scooby. He was quite unlucky, didn't have a lot of room to work with in the straight. On a roomier track he is going to live it. My early Caulfield Guineas tip.

A friend of mine bought him and manages him, yes they rate him highly.

Antz Official Saturday Set

We kicked off the official Saturday set with a flyer, and the momentum keeps rolling. It’s a lighter week this time around — just the one play at Rosehill — but as always, I’m not here to throw out bets for the sake of action. Quality over quantity. The real star of the show this week is Caulfield, where the card looks strong and presents a few prime opportunities.

Best Bets

Rosehill

• Race 8 – #5 Wodeton
Honest type who looks well-placed here. Maps to get the right run and should be in the finish.

Caulfield

• Race 5 – #5 River of Stars
Strong stayer on the rise, suited to conditions. Hard to beat if things unfold as expected.

• Race 8 – #8 Damask Rose
Progressive and flying. This looks another winnable assignment, and she’ll give you a sight.

Best Each-Way

Caulfield
• Race 7 – #15 Outback Miss
Overs in the market. Capable of running a bold race at a price — a must for the multiples.

Value Play – Two-Bet Strategy

Caulfield – Race 9

• #2 Tom Kitten – Class runner who can stamp authority if things go to plan.

• #11 Treasure the Moment – Over the odds but a knockout chance. Perfect foil to cover both ends of the market.

Keeping it sharp, disciplined, and selective. Remember — it’s about smart betting, not betting for the sake of it. Let’s see if Caulfield can deliver the goods this Saturday.

A couple from the blackbook at Pakenham tonight…both in Race 7

Shaime - unlucky two starts back and in worst rails spot at Flemington

App Jockey the unknown but worth a punt at $20/4.

Freak of Nature $16/4 - ordinary last start after good run at MV but has won here.

( Note Maher stable have Namesake in this with 3kg allowance -  $14/3 )

I have a wee inkling for a roughie at Te Aroha today.  Paying $31 and $7 on fixed odds so maybe gold coin only.

R5 - Hidalgo

Last two starts were over hurdles at Riccarton - won the first of them nicely and then in the latest run managed to hit just about every hurdle on the course.  4 starts back ran a close 2nd in one of these amateur rider races.  Today's jockey rode him in that race - jockey is quite inexperienced and will only be hands and heels but that might be ok on the tough track.

One of Maxi's favourites is running at Te Aroha, eh, today..r7 Rosetown Princess...genuine mare, tries her heart out and has a knack of running in the top 3 or 4 more often than not. She loves the wet, loves 1600m tends to get midfield or worse early than storm home. Gets 2kg off today (Strawbridge) so carries only 52kg on a Heavy 10 down that big long straight late in the day...go wide or cut the corner? Who cares...just don't get blocked for a run, girl!
And RT has won twice in her last 4 starts, Top 3 4 of her last 5.
Only downside is: unplaced all three starts at Te Aroha - but has never raced there on a Heavy track. At $12/$2.90 in an 8-horse field ...she's overs for mine.

One thing is fo' sho' ..she will be trying.

Antz Official Saturday Set

The spring build-up is starting to heat up and Saturday’s cards at Randwick and Moonee Valley look like they’ll provide plenty of betting opportunities. The form is deep, the fields are competitive, and there’s value to be found if you know where to look. Here’s where I’m landing this weekend:

Best Bet

Randwick R8 #4 Lady Shenandoah
All the signs point to Lady Shenandoah being ready to explode. Her trials have been sharp, she’s drawn to get the run of the race, and Randwick is the ideal track for her to launch late. Everything in her prep has been geared towards this assignment, and she simply looks a level above this field if she brings her best. Confident she can deliver.

Each Way Play

Moonee Valley R7 #2 Ferivia
Honest type who maps well around the Valley and looks a strong each-way chance.

Value Shots

Randwick R6 #2 Tupakara

Randwick R7 #7 Land Legend

Randwick R9 #1 Militarize


Closing Thoughts
This weekend shapes as a fascinating mix of proven class and hidden value. Lady Shenandoah is the standout and the one I want to be on with real confidence. Ferivia offers a strong each-way angle at the Valley, while Tupakara, Land Legend, and Militarize all look like genuine chances to outrun their odds.

Plenty to play with across both cards — and if the form falls our way, this could be a very rewarding Saturday.

Some great racing Saturday but going up against the Rugby Tests.It will be interesting to see how well the 

Tote holds up.Personally it will be the same as most weekends with the Sky Recorder getting a good workout

It's no different to all other home AB's test matches. All NZ races are finished and 95% of the main Aussie races are finished then as well. So don't see the issue myself.

The odd tip that I post I here have generally gone awful, but I'll go back to the well with a couple today:

Randwick R6 - Apocalyptic - spotted this one at the trials in the summer and went a nice race in its only start.  Was well in the Slipper market but something must have gone wrong with that prep.  Couple of nice easy trials leading into this and has a top jockey up and hopefully gets a nice trip from the ace draw.

Moonee Valley R1 - Ornos - this one was in my blackbook after its last start at the Valley.  Raced in a good spot but got shuffled back a bit coming to the turn and then had a bit of trouble finding a run - ran home well when clear.  Favourite coming out has dented the price a bit.
