stodge 1,939 Report post Posted July 27, 2022 Galway is often used by the top Irish yards to introduce their better horses. For those unfamiliar, they race seven consecutive days at Ballybrit, outside Galway City, a mixture of Flat and Jumping through the week. There are some huge valuable handicaps but the main races are the Galway Plate, a 4000m steeplechase run this afternoon - basically Ireland's equivalent to the big race at Warrnambool. Tomorrow, it's the Galway Hurdle over 3200m. The Plate is off in 5 minutes as I type, they go 9/2 the field. There are a few flat maidens which, as @Berrisuggests, aren't short of interest. The equivalent colts maiden on yesterday evening's card went to COREMAN, a son of Divine Prophet, who'll be better known to you lot then to me - he started shuttling in 2018 so this is probably his second season of runners. Have to say he hasn't set the world on fire up here yet. Hedley Jordan

Berri 2,131 Report post Posted July 28, 2022 P4P ....Emily Upjohn came back with an elevated temp after the King George. Well-being at about 65%. There's been a line drawn under the three year olds, especially Westover and Emily but both horses better than the King George form. Sometimes happens... The King George was a strange race in many ways. Mishriff is not 10 lengths down on Pyledriver on bare form, but that's where he finished. Mishriff rolled Alenquer by 6 in the Judmonte International and then ran 6 behind the Arc winner, so the form is suspect. Emily Upjohn will keep Hedley Jordan

Berri 2,131 Report post Posted July 28, 2022 You been grazing on magic puha again? What did you pay for Terry the Tortoise? Maybe it could take on some of Stogie's tips in a two way race off.

stodge 1,939 Report post Posted August 8, 2022 All most amusing but back to more important matters and another nice filly for the future at Deauville: Prix des Marettes: This was a 1500m race for unraced juveniles. KELINA is by Frankel out of an Oasis Dream mare - she's a half to a Listed filly called ANSILIA who has run at up to 2000m. As they say, she could be anything.
