tripple alliance 1,007 Report post Posted July 21, 2022 I wonder how many race courses will be trapped in this new government snare , it won't be very hard to cook up some excuse apply the new zoning and take control . If the maori historic criteria is applied then most will come under scrutiny , if the outstanding natural landscapes is applied then it's open slather , just opinion , luckily Ellerslie sold the hill . Here's an example Awapuni , ex wikip Maraetarata is the site of the ancient Awapuni Lagoon, upon which the racecourse is now situated. The word ANCIENT will do it . 𝐈𝐅 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐀𝐍 𝐔𝐑𝐁𝐀𝐍 𝐎𝐑 𝐑𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐓𝐘 𝐎𝐖𝐍𝐄𝐑, 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐍𝐄𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐎 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒 ex Groundswell , (abbreviated) Anyone that owns, leases, or manages property or land in New Zealand, both urban and rural, should be very concerned about the latest developments on the West Coast. That is the message from Groundswell NZ, after over 1500 West Coast property owners received letters in the mail, out of the blue, stating that their properties had been zoned for takeover by state control and that restrictions would take immediate legal effect. This takeover of private land came about after the four West Coast councils released a combined district plan last week, called Te Tai o Poutini. The zonings include sites of significance to Maori, historic areas, outstanding natural landscapes, and significant natural areas (SNAs). Both urban and rural residents are impacted. This state takeover of private land is accelerating throughout New Zealand, as local councils are being forced by Government directive to enforce unworkable regulations. The raft of ill-conceived regulations coming out of Wellington is causing considerable stress and anxiety for the thousands of people caught up by the legislation. This is the main reason Groundswell NZ started campaigning. meomy, Value Bell, Baz (NZ) and 2 others 1 2

tripple alliance 1,007 Report post Posted July 22, 2022 Adding to this government take over policy will be the animal welfare fanatic's , no doubt they will delve into the history books and come up with reasons for the government to implement their policy and make tracks unusable , imagine slicing off a piece of the track at gate pa Tauranga for historic reasons or even significant natural areas like the bush at Tauherenikau , any excuse will do to make racing unviable , make no mistake property rights are under threat , even your back yard . meomy 971 Report post Posted July 31, 2022 They all need to learn about the real history of the world. Some great stuff about the West Coast, Wairau Bar etc and river stones and shingles in Papers Past NZ. Some plonkers think a pile of shells always belong to one race when the reality is everyone lived along the coastline because they all traveled by sailing vessels/ boats in the earlier days. Just like everyone ate shellfish and used the shells for footpaths and in their gardens and then in paving... Old archived European . UK Journals and newspapers along with Papers Past NZ National library websites make for great reading. Ever heard of the Kinzett, Needham and Plant families? Do you recall when there was an outrage from Academics about the Littlewood Treaty Document that surfaced in the late 1980's? It's understood it was handed down through the generations from back in the early 1800's. Plenty if records as to who was on land where in archives. Gone are the days of a lackmof accountability by acadoomics
