Mill Reef 119 Report post Posted June 3, 2022 On the radio today that TCO will stand at Highview. I hope he gets well supported. Breeder, dock leaf, Pam Robson and 3 others 5
Breeder 599 Report post Posted June 6, 2022 He deserves support but I hope the breeders who support him have some patience. He will obviously produce 3+yr old performers. Looking at Rogie's Sharp 'N" Smart at Eagle Farm on Saturday, Redwood is going to get back into the news. So with Tarzino firing on all four cylinders Westbury could have a big season ahead of it. Ohokaman 5,762 Report post Posted June 7, 2022 $4000 + gst for a horse of his quality is ridiculously cheap…..he should be fully booked in no time. Live foal guarantee included. Kingshill and Baz (NZ)

Plenty of racing, measured up both sides of the ditch, earned plenty as a result, retired sound, pedigree that will stand up anywhere certainly in NZ. At $4k what's not to like? Kingshill 230 Report post Posted April 25, 2023 The Chosen one wasn't mentioned in the press release from Highview yesterday, announcing their 2023 stallion fees........ Ohokaman 5,762 Report post Posted April 27, 2023 Was not that well patronised apparently, despite the stud fee. This might explain the move. https://loveracing.nz/Breeding/347269/The-Chosen-One-NZ-2015.aspx#bm-stallion-produce

We're Doomed 4,824 Report post Posted April 29, 2023 50 odd mares probably isn't too bad considering all the competition up there. I always thought he would be well suited to the South Island. I was surprised he didn't go there in the first place. Pam Robson, Baz (NZ) and Mill Reef

Breeder 599 Report post Posted April 30, 2023 No matter where he stands, supporters are going to have to be patient. The family the Dennis brothers have developed so well over decades does not produce two year olds. Some have been 4 year olds before they start to fire. With The Chosen One you get input from Savabeel and Flying Spur to go with the great female family, so he has good genetics. Within the group who raced him there are some significant breeders so hopefully they will support him, because initially he will need a lot of help. Look at The Bold One. He must have come close to be being written off but then his produce have started to get a few wins on the board. All he would need at this stage is a couple of Group winners and everyone would really take some notice. Proisir did not take off immediately. Everything takes time. dock leaf, Palatable and We're Doomed

Breeder 599 Report post Posted April 30, 2023 Ohokaman, I agree on the mare quality given who was in the racing ownership group. Maybe given how long they knew they would have to wait they decided to wait and see what the first foals looked like. MissJools 465 Report post Posted May 23, 2023 The Chosen One will join the rejuvenated stallion roster at The Oaks Stud this breeding season. The Chosen One joins Champion European Two-year-old and Champion Sprinter U S Navy Flag and proven Classic sire Roc de Cambes at the Cambridge farm, with stalwart Darci Brahma retired from stud duties last month. The Chosen One will stand for $4,000 +GST this season, with breeding rights also available at $10,000 +GST. The breeding rights include two nominations for the next three years and one every year thereafter. chiknsmack, Breeder, Chestnut and 1 other
Palatable 36 Report post Posted May 23, 2023 Nice transition from Darci Brahma, a Danehill over a Zabeel, to The Chosen One, a Zabeel-line over a Danehill-line. They'll be hoping The Chosen One can follow in Darci's footsteps. Big shoes to fill. Darci Brahma has "retired" a bit quietly but surely fits in the Top 5 NZ stallions of the '10s. I'm not sure we ever saw his true stallion value represented at Karaka, year-in year-out he always looked the bargain Karaka stallion. Still looks like a bargain to me…just needs the right quality mares to see what he can produce. tripple alliance

Mare returns are not due until February 2024 for last season, so it does not mean all the mares are in foal.
