Tauranga Racecourse submissions.

Recommended Posts

Submissions were to be in by now and a decision made by June.  as to what is the future for the Golf Course and the Racecourse..Decision has been delayed after Anne Tolley was concerned about the lack of submissions.

At the moment they both have leases until 2039.

Only 1500 submissions were gained.

Iwi have made it clear they will fight it if this land is used for anything other than recreation as that is what it was permanently reserved for.  The talk of combining Gate Pa & Arawa Park apparently is still a consideration, sticking a new complex at Paengaroa IMHO makes no sense at all regardless if they want public to attend or not

The Communities who have had their Racecourses targetted f.ro Housing should be banding together and take Legal action with those in their communities.

Racecourses were often created on what was known as 'Wasteland' because of it's what is now known as Wetland areas - these in themselves are protected under various Regulations with Town Planning

One has to question the intelligence, lack of, of those who fail to understand the need for Animals and communities to have land to enjoy themselves, along with the History of the Horses in the world.

It's a timely reminder why we have ANZAC DAY and the role of Horses in the War eras.

The education system is sick and those who fail to attend school to learn history need a kick up the pants.
