bloke 1,232 Report post Posted March 21, 2022 I ran into Mark and Graeme Sanders as well as John Wheeler when I was on business trip to the Chatham's about 10 years ago. What a great bunch of guys, we were up drinking in The Hotel Chatham's until around 2.30am with many a great yarn told. There were 10 on the boat Scooby. Very experienced Skipper was local man Lance Goodhew and the first mate Kobe O’Neill…both survived along with three others as yet un named. 5 have died, the last found in the hull of the boat today. They were all from the Cambridge area and included Mark Sanders, Mike Lovett ( who worked for Rick Williams Oaks Stud ) and Richard Bright owner of the well known Group One Turf Bar. Bloody tragic situation for all the families concerned….
scooby3051 10,915 Report post Posted March 26, 2022 How nice was that tribute on Trackside just now for Mark Sanders after their horse won...we sometimes knock them but that was beautiful and the win very emotional for everyone involved including Brendon Popplewell...nice gesture trackside...nice bit of brightness in a dark week for Sanders family and all others that have been affected by the tragedy. poundforpound 745 Report post Posted March 26, 2022 Yep, I need to acknowledge this tragedy too It’s so cruel that so many can be taken, all so young, in such a brutal unforgiving fashion Our hearts bleed for all the families involved, but in particular the Sanders family May the boys Rest In Peace Memphis3 and Contentious
