Two people were taken to hospital, one with serious injuries, after an incident involving a horse.

Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a fire appliance and a police car were called to Gladstone Rd North, near Mosgiel, Otago on Tuesday, about 1pm.

A St John spokeswoman confirmed two people were injured in an incident involving “an animal”, one seriously and the other suffering moderate injuries.

Both were taken to Dunedin Hospital.

The address was connected to a stable near Wingatui Racecourse.

Given it was getting shod. I think its OK for now

Ah. Thanks, didn't know the circumstances.

I'm sure those involved are getting the best care possible,  here's hoping for a good outcome .

It's situations like this that bring home just how dangerous the job is, every day.  Luckily, the worst case scenario doesn't happen that often.

Fractured skull and other cosmetic injuries. The man with serious injuries is a very well known and popular racing figure.  We are all hoping for his recovery

Any names of the personal?

My thoughts & prayers are with Graeme, wishing him a speedy & full recovery, we don't bounce back as easy at our golden age.  Ann usually always helps him with the horses so we're hoping it wasn't her injured also.  Farrk recall when it happened to Rodney Marsh in parade ring, he lived just up on the corner property.  PLEASE stay vigilant, as magnificent as horses are you can't be too careful
