Carnage in the last with plenty on the winner and nine more eliminated.  That brings the total eliminated to 27, leaving only 42 to carry on tomorrow - makes the scorer's job a lot easier.  Only 4 entrants yet to lose a life.  We debated whether to have two lives on each day or to go with four over both days - had we gone for the former it would be a quiet day tomorrow.

Paul on the winner in the last to lose his first life but still ends day 1 at the top of the table.  Seddon also with the winner to drop to 3rd while Arjay finishes the day well to climb into 2nd place despite picking two winners.

Great job again on the scoring and commentary Say No More. Very interesting competition to see unfold throughout the day. Interesting to find myself yelling for my pick, which was in front at the furlong on a few occasions,  to get beat! But not enough of them did so I will watch with interest from the 'grandstand' as the action unfolds again tomorrow and I'll be cheering Ponderosa on. I think Gruff could be the dark horse though as he is a good stayer. Thanks again to the sponsor, Insider, and to Scooby.

I much rather like cheering my horse on to win than to lose ! Just doesn't seem right.

Not sure how this will paste, but below is a chart showing the progress of the top 5 through the course of the day.  Races here are in chronological order.

Paul & Seddon setting the pace and neck and neck most of the way, while Basil got off to the worst start but made ground steadily.  Arjay hung around zero for the early art of the day but made up lots of ground over the final 5 races.  Jen quite similar to Arjay.

What tactics tomorrow??

My tactic is to head to Ellerslie about 1am and turn the irrigation system on full-bore so the meeting is Abandoned due to the state of the track
