Justin Evans called remotely from his home in the South Island, a late call-up after Aaron White was on holiday and Bruce Sherwin had to pull pin with Covid in his household. Agree locally based Jason Teaz would have been the best replacement.

A mate of mine backed Taipo and heard it called over second or third and headed to the tab to collect his money. When he rung me I told him the commentator just f%@ked up the call and his horse Taipo went terrible he was livid. Wasted an hour lol.

They have no common sense.

Sunday is a prime example.

Ellerslie channel 1, Westport channel 2. Absolutely brainless and one would have to ask why? Is the pressure from others for this to be happening? Also Sunday Channel 1 has always been harnesses domain.

We are getting shafted by the TAB plain and simple.

I hate the way when there is both harness and gallop meetings coming in from Australia. They have every man and his dog making comments at the gallops but only switch over to harness when the race has begun. No lead in at all.Yes, there might be $10k on the tote for the gallops and $6 for the trots, but could be more even if trots had some lead in, especially when so many exNZers in the field.

Seems like a sensible business decision.

The Sunday slugs on the grass do a turnover of about a million , while Auckland Cup day would do about 4 x times that plus the extra attention from Aussie punters as its a Group day and also involves horses based in Aussie etc.

Without betting turnover NZ racing and stakes suffer.

Here's an idea put them on the same channel. Don't split your captive audience!

Cant agree on this occasion a day of Group 1 action from Ellerslie was always going to be the main action both on and off track .The TAB would be pillared if they did anything different and the punting numbers dont lie.

Its Auckland Cup day with 2 Grp1's and 1.5 mio in stakes up for grabs. Compare that with Westport stakes and horses ability and I'm full of praise for the TAB's common sense appraisal of the days programming

You can watch and bet on Westport so cant see your issue
