My favourite type of racing Thanks The season starts at Egmont 27 April , then early May to Wanganui and Te Rapa . It runs to 2 October at Wanganui. There appears to be 27 Hurdle and 28 Steeples races over 20 meetings. I guess the only ones set in stone are the big Premier feature races which have $50k stakes and upwards. Other stakes will be maidens @ $20k and Restricted Open @ $30k.......the type of races will depend on Nominations. Only South Island meeting is the Grand National Carnival..... 3 days in August. Check it out on NZTR / Love Racing website. Click on NZTR along to bar....into Racing Info , into Info and coms Click into Racing Progamme Guide.....that the key document. Do you have data on how many jumpers in NZ? How many intending to qualify? What grade are the jumpers?
Thepaw 46 Report post Posted March 8, 2022 Evening 50 Win no 1 I'll try and answer what I can based on figures retained from last season Number of Jumpers in NZ? Last season we had 121 individual horse start in Hurdle races 72 horses which started in a Chase and 39 which start in both Hurdle and chase races; this equates to 154 Individual horse who raced in a jumps race last season How many intending to qualify this season? How long is a piece of string; sorry no data available yet but we have trials / PTP schedule for Waverley Cambridge and Rotorua. There is also Jumping days plan in Matamata so hopefully some new horse will emerge along these pathways but of course we now have the broader open so some may head to Australia for the upcoming Carnival's What grade are our Jumpers Based on last years stats: 121 Hurdlers 78 @ the end of the season were maidens 25 had won 1 race 7 had won 2 races and 11 3+ races 72 Chasers 38 @ the end of the season were maidens 18 had won 1 race 7 had won 2 races and 9 3+ races (NB; This includes the 39 Dual jumpers) Hope that answers your questions Regards Paul Dissident, Tauhei Notts, Charlie Bukowski and 2 others 4
tasman man 742 Report post Posted April 24, 2022 Bumping this thread....... The Jumps season is not starting on April 27 at Hawera as was intended !
Thepaw 46 Report post Posted April 24, 2022 Morning Tasman No unfortunately we only had 1 nomination for the Open Hurdle at Hawera so it had to be withdrawn. The unseasonal weather we are experiencing here in the CD is not helping get our jumpers ready for their upcoming assignments. We have some good numbers at 2 recent jumping day at the Brosnan property in Matamata and indication's are that the CD numbers are good but both attempts that we have had trying to get the Waverley PTP off the ground have been stemmed by the hard track and threats of rain tasman man
