tasman man 742 Report post Posted February 25, 2022 .......NOT always. Look at the postponed/abandoned/transferred meetings for example. Even allowing for more tracks, horses, meetings ,everything etc the forced changes far out do NZ. Yes they have more extreme weather as in rain and heat but often the state of tracks [ and covid] contributes as well. In NZ we slam the Administrators for our disruptions. The FACTS seem to suggest Aussie racing has these issues as well. Muppets as many on here refer to the folk in charge ! Can you think of some others. Pies maybe? Haha Memphis.....no need for me to overstate or exaggerate on this ......it became obvious to me when I saw 4 of the 12 Aussie meetings that the NZ TAB planned to take today were all abandoned. I got to thinking about this as I was sending an email to NZTR about the recent issues and abandonments ,to explain the frustrations. One of our syndicate horses made the long drive down to NewPlymouth ,only to be sent home...of course several horses made the trip down twice while others had also suffered a 3rd let down. On top of that NZTR announced that there would be extra nomination opportunities . Our horse accepted that lifeline ,then got put on ballot even tho well rated. Aussie has 360 courses , so about 7 times NZ's 52 x courses .....yet on here these issues bring out a heap of negative comments about NZ's administration and a constant needling about the superior lot over the ditch. With the size and money over the ditch ,it great for our top performers. I turned into some Aussie racing today......could barely see a couple of the races on the soaked track.....the comments people kept saying the meeting may not be completed ! Then one race started and it was sometime before the commentator realized the race had started. There were some small fields for good stakes ! The commentators often referred to the champions on display...Waller , McDonald ,Verry Elleegant while Collett ,Baker ,Busuttin/Young seemed to have their moments tho Macca's first ride stood in the gate............great our cream can perform over there while the rest battle away here ! As for the Great Northern...the race still somewhere......racing needs the hill funds to stay afloat. Few jumping horses , fewer jockeys and no-one bets on them except the odd Aussie in rest-homes who specialise in giving advice on things and places they never seen or been to ! We were bankrupt recently , got Messara in from over the ditch to tell us the obvious , but most don't want to hear it . He said have less tracks and fix the racing surface Back to abandonments.....Aussie had more than 7 x times NZ's annual number in this month alone !!!! Even the Football [ NZ Phoenix ] is abandoned tomorrow ....... you lucky you here now , you may have been washed away down the Parramatta River or worse the Cronulla Creek ! Yes please ! Watching the TV yesterday and seeing the results of Waller , Collett , McDonaldand the NZ bred horses was a great watch and a feeling of great pride. And no doubt the Queen was looking on too. And other UK raiders ! I admire Aussie Racing and the opportunities it offers us Kiwis ....its so close and the money is fantastic . It continued into the night at the Harness where King of Swing , Spirit of St Louis , Stylish Memphis and Spellbound dominated the 3 x big Group races at Menangle. Brilliant ! FYI ,we have had a few of our horses racing there. Aussie racing is tops......lock this in , I'll emphasise this to my therapist ! Pogo you seem bitter ....llke the everyman and a dog you refer to......yes there are some negative ,bitter and 'green ' posters but you not need join them when clearly you Australian and hardly been to our great country ! You must bristle with pride when an Australian bred horse wins a race , or when Nick Kyrgios talks to the world and shows his talents ,or the way SSmith has recovered from the sandpaper affair to lead Aussie cricket back to near the top of World cricket with NZ and India. You must feel the glow ! You probably remember when Australia refused to even play NZ ,sometimes sending their B team as a token. You must have felt pride when Aussie got a gold at Winter Olympics. We rejoiced in our two golds , I can tell you. So , if you are still reading this dribble........understand this...I am sorry you in Sydney and Queensland too are under water , things will improve . I would never bag Aussie racing .....Kiwis love it and want to be part of it ,just like the Queen The recent issue in NZ was abandoned meetings....hence everyman and his dog got on here bagging our Admin , giving little thought to some extreme weather and lack of care in track preparation. Many throwing up Aussie as the Rolls Royce of the Industry. I just pointing out that Aussie had over 20 abandonments etc this month alone.....Facts ! Yes , 100% dribble but 100% facts.....and I glad Port Lincoln and Mudgee [ played cricket there !] doing well. Sydney and Caulfield seem to be at each others throats . And I see money struggles hurting NRL currently ,I just hope Cronulla do something and play the ball not the man. Seems we able to agree , as we both members of Club so fully adversant in the decision to sell hill......not to survive as their equity very good but rather to build a bigger nest egg to be able to double stakes and future proof the Club . And rebuild the track , the new track not considered desirable for jumps races , which has decreased significantly in horses, jockeys and especially betting. This is one of the main reasons Jumping has now ceased in all but ONE Australian state. ONE Australian state !!!!!!!! And as for destroying Iconic races , we wondered what the Iconic Hotham Hcp will be known as this year ! Will it be the Hotham , the Lexus or the Saab Quality ??? And what about the ELITE Hiskins Steeplechase...known as the Cox Plate of Aussie Jumping. Gone ! How we enjoyed the wins of Crisp , St Stephen [NZ] and Some are Bent. AT Moonee Valley too......not in Australia champ...haha ! What about Flemington's iconic jumps races especially the William Newton on Anzac Day. Gone ! The VRC got uneasy about the apparent lack of horses.......not in Australia champ ...haha ! The biggest laugh came when my therapist asked who sent me to him...I said pogo ! Oh hell he laughed....therapist IS the laughing man ! He asked how anyone from NSW who have not had Jumping for decades and is well known as an anti- Victorian bigot could argue on line that that State is leading the way . He described pogo's infliction as Egomania with serious streak of Narcissism...always needing to have the last word. He also asked if pogo had ever attended a Jumps meeting ......I said maybe once in NZ [ in his dreams ] and maybe twice in Aussie ! 100% dribble......not in Australia champ. pogo(aus) and JJ Flash 1
